You're right. André Bishop did say that he loves Show Boat, and thought about producing, but finds the book to be more than problematic.
My guesses for the parade are The Cher Show,Mean Girls, and My Fair Lady - hopefully with 'Get Me to the Church on Time'. I think the fourth slot will go either Head Over Heels or The Prom.
I at least agree that Waitress as a musical is pretty problematic. Jessie Nelson's script feels a little longer than it needs to be (it’s no surprise to me that Waitress was the only one of the five 2016 Best Musical nominees that wasn’t nominated for Best Book of a Musical). In any case, I think it's pretty cool that an actual Israeli actor will be leading the tour as Tevye. I was actually a huge fan of the most recent Broadway revival, and I'm looking forward to seeing this in Durham.

If and when Ragtime receives its second Broadway revival, I think Lincoln Center Theater should produce it (especially since the last two productions lost a lot of money) with Bartlett Sher at the helm.
