I’ve heard from a usually reliable source that they do have a Marian cast, and that it is Sutton Foster.
But I am taking it with a massive grain of salt because that casting seems remarkably wrong to me.

I would have loved to have seen Kate Baldwin do this. She deserves a nice, high profile leading role.

Actual question: we know the Jackson Estate filed a lawsuit against HBO over airing the documentary, which they claim violates a non-disparagement clause in a 1992 contract between the estate and HBO.
Is the estate able to sue Robson and Safechuck for defamation (or something along those lines)? Does the fact that Jackson has been dead for a decade prevent them from doing so? Is there any legal action the estate can take against these two men specifically, if the estate feel
If they hired Bill Irwin to do movement, then this is going to be a very physical production. Not something you can just throw someone into, or onstage with a script in hand for a few performances.
It's a bit soon to be determining whether a show like this in a fairly middling season will make it to a Best Musical nomination. If there's good will toward an underdog show and more animosity toward jukebox musicals, then it may work out.
I will say, though, that there just does not seem to be particularly much interest in this show among industry folks. And it certainly remains to be seen how its status as a viral hit among a subset of teenagers will
