Revamped "Evita" in Sydney  Oct 17 2018, 10:34:27 AM
I was very underwhelmed by Tina's performance here. Based on this clip alone, I would hope that she isn't really the best Australia has to offer for the role. That said, it could be that this particular performance in this particular clip is lackluster, and she really delivers a thrilling performance when seen live.

Anastasia or Beetlejuice with 13 year old boy?  Oct 17 2018, 10:28:06 AM
It sounds like you have answered your own question. Are you taking him to a show in order to help cultivate his interest in theatre, or to make yourself happy? If it us the former, take him to the show he is most interested in; if it is the latter, take him to the show you are most interested in.

The best idea would likely be to ask him what he would like to see rather than what we think here.

Riedel on revival talk for ALW's Song and Dance  Sep 30 2018, 10:50:35 AM

Bwayfan292 said: "So if i read the article correctly, since Lenk sung a song from Song and Dance, at a gala honoring ALW, theres talk of a revival??

....what?
"

Hey, Ariana Grande is making an appearance in a televised concert and half of BWW has her cast in a movie that may be several years from production. This is how all talk gets started. It is important to remember that it is all just talk.

Company London  Sep 30 2018, 10:36:18 AM

QueenAlice said: "Does the production include Tik Tock?"

I never really cared for this piece. It's a nice composition, but always feels out of place when it is included. I know it was written to show off Donna's talent, and I am sure it was thrilling to watch her dance to it, but now it seems like a throwaway.

Miley Cyrus' Audition For LES MIS  Sep 20 2018, 07:17:54 PM

I had to quit watching this after the first 25 seconds. This was worse than bad.

They’ve had total controls of the property since well before the musical was written."

This is simply not true. ABC owns or once owned the TV rights for a period of time. Universal bought the stage rights and owns the film rights to

Send Charlotte St. Martin A Message: Dim All The Lights For Marin Mazzie  Sep 16 2018, 11:37:03 AM
It is ridiculous to me that people here get their panties in a twist and start clutching their pearls over who lights are or are not dimmed for and which theatres are or are not doing it.

Seriously, why not be happy that some theatres are choosing to honor her? Why can't you just accept the recognition that is being offered?

With the amount of drama that the light dimming tradition seems to bring, maybe it is time to let the tradition be a thing of the past. It would be a sad

Egot  Sep 10 2018, 06:59:10 AM
I am also confused by your post. Of the major televised entertainment awards only 15 people have ever managed to collect at least one of each in a competitive category. I would say that that is more cool than it is a joke.

I am also confused by your reaction to John Legend. He does very well as an artist in his genre of music, I think there is little denying that his academy award winning song was well written and fit the film beautifullyn he has produced a very well received Broadway p

That doesn’t bode well for a Broadway transfer.

Incidentally, does anyone know when the last time an entirely non-English production played on Broadway? Just curious,

Maybe Baz's production of La Boheme?

briankershawjr said: "Just because it’s been delayed does not mean it will be years off. Cats will take 2019... I see a 2020 or even a 2021 release. Movies doesn’t take they long to make. I can see them making it next spring and taking a year to add all the special effects... I have a hunch when they do announce the cast it will come out fast... stop jumping to conclusions... it’s not dead... Universal is very good of making the movies they announce"

Wicked  Aug 31 2018, 10:27:34 PM

This is probably several years off yet. This will follow suit with Evita, Chicago, Dreamgirls, Phantom, and Les Miserables. It will get announced that it is happening and then fade away again. Casting rumors will come and go, directors will come and go. Maybe someday it will happen, but it won't happen next year, and it probably won't happen the following year either. Be hopeful, but don't hold your breath.

Amar Ramasar (Jigger in CAROUSEL) suspended from NYCB over "inappropriate communications"  Aug 28 2018, 11:43:54 PM
"Inappropriate communications" can mean a great many things. To assume anything about this without having any real information is irresponsible. To assume the communication was sexual in nature when you have no evidence to corroborate such an assumption, and then spread that assumption around like wild fire, is not only irresponsible, but possibly slanderous. Why not wait until you have more information before grabbing your torch and pitchfork? Later, if it proves the situation really does merit

Can you take videos during curtain call  Aug 27 2018, 12:06:25 PM

Just_John said: "Is it actually illegal?

Because everything everyone is sayingis not true. For the last decade, Broadway shows have allowed cameras of curtain call. The only theatres to enforce not taking pictures are Signature and New World. Producers have encouragedthe taking of pics for awhile now. They consider itfree advertisement.
"

Even if a producer condones it, it's still not legal. The producer has the right to produce the show, but everyone i

My guess is that we will see it in the U.S. after the tour has run it's course, or shortly before.

Yes, it was a good call. That production was tepid and dull. I'm not sure what chemistry you are speaking of. It was one of the biggest wastes of $125 I spent on a ticket. I have not seen the B

Emily Bautista to lead MISS SAIGON Nat'l Tour  Aug 1 2018, 09:44:01 PM
She was on for the role of Kim when I saw the show in New York. My husband was truly disappointed that we were not seeing Eva; however, Emily was truly outstanding in the role. She gave it her all, and delivered a great performance. I am happy that she has been given the opportunity to lead the touring cast.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (Reactions Thread)  Jul 20 2018, 10:35:59 AM
It was cute. Everyone in the theater seemed to love it. There was applause, squealing, laughter, and tears heard throughout; as well as women singing along. I think everyone there had a good time.
