Saw this from the side balcony row C but near center aisle. Actually liked the view better than from when I first saw it from side orchestra. It was surprisingly not as far from the stage as I thought they would be so that you could still see the actors' facial expressions. If you can, get seats

Moulin Rouge Colonial Theatre Previews  Jul 30 2018, 07:55:49 AM

So I got to see this show again last night after seeing the first preview. I still very much enjoyed it and I welcomed the minor changes (I didn't think there were any drastic changes tbh). I really liked that they added the dialogue making Come What May their secret song and was used very briefly by Satine in the end before she goes back to Your Song. Although I wish they'd get rid of the Come What May lyrics during the Elephant Love Medley because that still does not make any sense

Dramamama611 is correct. Stagedoor is at Allen's Alley (if you want to map it) which is essentially the alley shared by the Colonial and the Cutler Majestic Theater. It's just around the construction on the corner of Boylston and Tremont Streets.

Is JLP transferring?  Jul 17 2018, 09:55:21 PM

Is there such as thing as being "too woke"? Because that's honestly how I felt watching this. It had everything yet felt very very half-baked. Needs to hone in on a specific plot and get focused before Broadway.

Seeking 1 ticket to Moulin Rouge Matinee 07/18  Jul 17 2018, 05:54:18 PM

I didn't get a chance to ask on my way out of work because of the crazy rains but the ArtsBoston booth at Faneuil Hall had a sign that said "ask about Moulin Rouge DISCOUNTED tickets". So that might be a budget-friendly option and I know the booths (there is also one in Copley Sq) sell discounted tickets day of show.

I think this is a norm for ATG theaters as Cursed Child also does the same at the Lyric Theater in NYC. And the Colonial is under ATG.

Moulin Rouge Colonial Theatre Previews  Jul 13 2018, 10:14:54 AM

Part of my problem with Christian's character in this stage version is I feel his character takes the backseat somewhat? Apart from having to share Satine with the Duke from the get-go, he also loses his charm as the bohemian writer embodying those ideals since that part is largely given to Toulouse on stage. They only address his writing songs for the show during one piece of narrative with him holding sheet music as a prop. Christian didn't truly come alive for me until he goes mad

Hunter K, both shows are being drawn at the same time. Noon at wherever The Donkey Show is playing.

I believe the ticket drawing is still at the Loeb Drama Center, according to ART's Twitter post. You might be referring to this "pre-party" they are doing at 10:30 (Moulin Rouge Colonial Theatre Previews  Jul 12 2018, 11:55:03 PM

I'm still planning on seeing Mean Girls, but Moulin Rouge is many levels above Frozen. I thought Frozen was a very lazy film-to-stage adaptation and even the new elements brought nothing to the show. At least the new additions in Moulin Rouge left me very entertained. I'm stil

Elizabeth Moore said: "As someone who was physically there I think the problem the op is referring to is that we didn't see the lovers reconnect at this pivotal moment -a pinnacle of their love. Instead, she was panicked that he was about to kill himself and seemed to be acting only to save him, not because she had any hope they'd be together. It is established that she expects to die on stage, she knows she is at the end before the performance even begins. The love story par

THIS. Not gonna lie, I came in thinking they could stage this ending scene in a somewhat similar fashion to the movie.

My friend sat at the back of the center dress circle seats and while she loved it, she said she would've preferred balcony coz the overhang was distracting her from enjoying the full stage, even though the windmill/elephant were really just decorati

The audience was VERY receptive. It was the first preview and I think everyone felt excited to be in the room! That being said, while I cheered at some of the ways the performers incorporated the songs and material they were given, when I analyze the show as a piece of theatr

Wouldn't they save a lot of money by cutting some of the new pop songs? I wasn't a fan of all the new ones just because there were so many. I had a hard time remembering all of them after and they didn't have any real effect on the story or move me but served only to be a quick entertaining moment.

Poster is 14x22.

Also, I just want to say you hit the nail on how I felt about the first preview in your earlier post. I really hope they fix the book, cut some songs and give Danny Burstein a really good solo worthy of his talents.

I personally felt it's the reason that the ending didn't have the same impact with me in this show versus the movie because they failed to use Come What May in that context, along with the plot changes dealing with Satine's health status. I'm really confused why they didn't use this song as much as it is the only original song in t

This was my number one complaint after seeing it last night. Of all the changes they made, I had the most issue with this one.
