Trigger Warning or Content Advisory for Hair?  Aug 5 2018, 10:09:51 PM

I was actually just thinking about this kind of issue as it applies to the live broadcast version of Hair that is set to air in May. Although the TV version will certainly have to be heavily censored (I'm imagining whole songs being cut out), even the remaining material might be a little much for younger children. I worry that parents will assume that the show will be child friendly given that it airs on NBC, and let their kids watch it without knowing what the show is about. I think havi

Oddest things you've heard from non theatre people  Jul 30 2018, 02:44:54 PM

Not necessarily odd, just stupid. Talking with a friend who saw Wicked in 2011. I ask who her who was in the show, and she answers Idina. I say, Idina was not in Wicked in 2011, so you saw someone else. I start rattling off names of possibilities, and she goes "but she looked so much like Idina.... I don't get it"

Like no crap she looks like Idina from a distance!!! She's painted green and wearing a black wig! Hell, I'd probably look kind of like Idina from a dist

Next WICKED Cast  Jul 30 2018, 02:39:02 PM

Has anyone seen Vosk in this? I've watched some stuff online so I know her vocals are out of this world, but from what I've watched/heard the acting needed some work. My last Elphie was Jackie, so the acting was incredible, as was the singing (obviously). Trying to decide if it's worth it to see Jess...

Phantom, wicked, Anastasia lotteries  Jul 17 2018, 06:05:30 PM

I emailed the people from Phantom a few weeks back because I knew they had a show but no lottery was being offered, and they said that they just "didn't have any tickets to give away" which was weird because  there were many empty seats. I've heard that Wicked has stopped the digital lottery, but I'm not sure why.

OFFICAL JVOSK BROADWAY THREAD  Jul 17 2018, 06:03:22 PM

Luminaire2 said: "They did a Monday show?"

For the summer, Wicked is running Monday shows and no Sunday shows, for the most part. I'm assuming that's to grab any tourists/out of towners who come to NYC for the week, and who want to see something on a day when most theaters are dark.

Bad Theater Behavior  Jul 15 2018, 09:43:26 PM

I saw Chicago today, and I knew it was going to be... a less experienced crowd, if that makes any sense. I was sitting towards the aisle of the second row.  When the second act started, the guy in front of me (so in the first row) was texting. The actor standing directly in front of us was STARING at him, until finally the usher came and told him to turn it off. At that moment, I made eye contact with the actor on stage, and we laughed at the guy, It was fantastic

Chicago the Musical Appreciation Thread  Jul 15 2018, 09:37:43 PM

Just saw her today as Roxie and she BLEW ME AWAY. amazing performance- vocals, acting, everything was fantastic

Bad Theater Behavior  Jul 10 2018, 04:22:16 PM

Nothing irks me more than people who don't open their snacks BEFORE CURTAIN. When I saw Wicked in May, during the second act, a woman two rows ahead of me (so in the 5th row, an expensive seat, mind you) OPENED A BAG OF CHIPS. AND ATE THEM. THROUGH THE FIRST CHUNK OF THE SECOND ACT. During No Good Deed, it was like....

Elphie: emotional, crying a little. "Nessa?"

Lady: Bag crinkle. loud crunching

Elphie: "Dr. Dillamond!&

Wicked Casting for 2018-2019  Jul 9 2018, 10:25:23 PM

I hope that at some point, Ginna Claire and Mary Kate will get to be on Broadway together. They have great chemistry and that really translates into their performance. Also excited for Vosk- acting is not as strong as some other Elphabas but her vocals are INSANE

Experiences With Condescending Theatre Goers  Jul 9 2018, 01:00:22 PM

I saw Wicked in May, after waiting a very long time to see it. It's one of my favorite shows and after the end of Defying Gravity (at the beginning of intermission) I was a little teary eyed after seeing Elphaba fly. I was talking to my mom about how I loved this show and how inspiring it is when Elphie flies, and the woman sitting behind us leaned up and said "if you love the show so much you shouldn't be surprised that she flies. And also, this Elphie (Jackie Burns) has nothing

Most anticipated 2018 Fall Shows  Jul 9 2018, 12:51:17 PM

The Cher Show is coming to Broadway November first (I believe) so if you're into Cher, that might be one to look for. The reviews from Chicago have been sub par but if they clean it up a bit it seems like it has potential.

Digital Lottery 7/9  Jul 9 2018, 12:08:15 PM

If anyone was curious, I emailed the Phantom lottery people and they first said that they don't run the lottery when the show is dark or if the show has sold out. I asked why there wasn't one today, as the show is running and there are seats left (a decent amount) and they said "We unfortunately just do not have tickets to give away". Expecting the same response from the other shows.

Digital Lottery 7/9  Jul 9 2018, 07:29:44 AM

This may be a dumb question but... several shows are running Monday, 7/9 (today) including Phantom and Wicked, but no digital lotteries are being held for these shows even though there are many available seats. Anyone know why? I entered for School of Rock, but that was the only one offered today.

Playbills/Box Office  Jul 2 2018, 10:05:59 PM

The last thread about this is pretty old, so I thought I would make a new one. I'm going to New York in two weeks to see Chicago for my mom's birthday, but I was thinking of branching off and trying to see some other theaters. How easy is it to get playbills from the box office? I've heard it depends on the person working. (Specifically thinking of going for Mean Girls, Frozen, Hello Dolly, and Book of Mormon)

Who Have You Gotten Stuff Back From?  Jun 28 2018, 04:49:34 PM

I wrote to MK Morrissey (Elphaba on the Wicked tour) and it took about 3 weeks for her to get back to me. She sent a signed press shot with a note on the back saying that she read my letter and some other stuff. Life made :)

potential hair revival?  Jun 23 2018, 07:53:21 PM

kelsey1389 said: "I know that NBC (?) is doing a live broadcast version ofHairnext spring, but does anyone think there's a chance that it'll be revived on or off Broadway for the 50th anniversary?"

my gut says it's too soon, but also, considering the current political climate and the fact that it is such a big anniversary, I think that the show could come back and be successful if the casting was done well.

potential hair revival?  Jun 23 2018, 05:15:59 PM

I know that NBC (?) is doing a live broadcast version of Hair next spring, but does anyone think there's a chance that it'll be revived on or off Broadway for the 50th anniversary?

Wicked Movie Cast (rumors, dreamcasts, etc.)  Jun 22 2018, 04:43:50 PM

My biggest hope for this movie is that people who have been on Broadway before will get to be in the film as ensemble members or something like that... I think it would be a great way to honor everyone who has been in the show while leaving the leads for someone a little less well known. Although I do have a slight piece of hope that Amanda Jane Cooper might get to be Glinda- saw her last month and she was absolutely captivating.
