Apologies. My first message was unnecessarily snarky and does naught but make me sound like an unpleasant ass.

Are you kidding? You are obviously not an actor. Or an amateur at that. That is WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR IN DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESSES. To tell producers and creators what we think. {edited by BWW staff}. That is what workshops and labs and readings, and out of town tryouts are about! Developme

Well 35 years later someone just sent this link to me. Today was the 1st time I ever got to see any footage of the musical.Seeing this really hit me hard . There were issues with the show ie:I addressed the 1st act needed more of Norman Jean's horrible childhood to show why she was so vulnerable, etc. Many songs I originated were cut and then they cheapen so much like

She is funny and very warm in her cabaret act...and she was a great DOLLY and MAME.

She also is a take no crap kind of person which is to be greatly admired and I think that can hinder you in the business... How many Broadway people have a signa

Andrea Mcardle  Oct 23 2018, 06:31:44 AM
She doesn’t have the charisma or acting ability that would make any director or casting person think ‘Andrea McCardle would be perfect in this role!’

It may seem harsh or blunt but there are numerous other actors who are better and have more marquee value and at the age she is, she’s competing with these numerous other actors for fewer roles.

She works a lot regionally.

I absolutely agree with you, JBC3.

But it’s completely impossible to say so. I think Buckley is a supreme talent but my feeling is she isn’t go to grow much, it’s also impossible for me to have a definite answer on

My crystal ball is on the fritz, good to know yours is working and you are able to confirm something even Buckley herself can’t at this stage.

Next, if, as you say, “pretending is involved in acting”, why do you say “acting is not about pretending”?

And, finally, “Actors can only play action not quality” and “that is why old fashionedacting rings untrue or phoney”, what period of time are you talking about? The “old-fashion

You might want to check the amount of money the stage production made or at least check the definition of disaster.

Since when has popularity ever equaled quality?

It doesn’t in any way but a disaster indica

An actor certainly has to find the truth, what they can relate to and what they can’t and there is certainly an amount of pretense involved.

Yes producers love it even the main, billed, scheduled cast members go off. Of course they specially find a time for them to go on...

Regarding all the talk of Betty Buckley ‘settling’ into the role. I fear, this is it.

Acting is not about pretending, it’s about telling the true. One has to find the areas in which you and the character are the same and play them, that’s what makes it real. There are some actors who have the gift of seeming different, in every role but that’s not actually a necessary component. Bette Midler’s Dolly, was very close to Bette Midler, the only thing the audience needs is to believe the sit

Joanna Riding is wonderful, she’s a truly gifted actress and she can really sing but neither Janie Dee or Samantha Spiro are good enough to warrant a role in an American show, when there are better American actors available.

I really don't think casting unknowns would be a good idea. They want people the audience will be familiar with, like Lea Michele

It was entirely greed based and always leaves a bad taste in my mouth."

This is so true, they say that
