Moulin Rouge Colonial Theatre Previews  Aug 4 2018, 06:43:11 PM
I wonder if Hartigan has even seen the movie. It is interesting that she encourages the show go in the opposite direction that most on this thread have been hoping for (the same direction I’d want if I’d made it to Boston and that I hope for before Broadway). She wants all spectacle and laughs and no heart or seriousness, apparently. More akin to Something Rotten! and Spamalot, I guess. I understand that stage adaptations can depart greatly from the movie source, but all the camp in the movie w

So Karen is 7 years older than Aaron. Kidman is 4 years older than McGregor. Having not seen this, I’m guessing the age difference is not the problem. May-December romances are not uncommon, but this doesn’t even qualify as that. Maybe May-July. I also think it makes sense that Satine be slightly older, a little more wiser and wearier than Christian. Once again I haven’t seen this (wont be able to until it hits Broadway), but the age difference doesn’t seem like the reason for the lack of chemis

Studio 54 seating question  Aug 3 2018, 11:06:46 PM

ArtMan said: "Miles2Go2, This was years ago. I think it was Harvey. I knew Iwasn't the first person to complain about it. I wanted to see how far she would go to BS me. That is why I told her either move me or give me my money back. They knew then and know now there is no legroom up there. I wouldn't sit up there with a free ticket. And I'm cheap!"

I agree. I wouldn’t sit up there now for free either.

Studio 54 seating question  Aug 3 2018, 10:56:32 PM
Wow. There’s no way you were the first to complain. You were plain old lied to.. The ushers were quite aware of how bad the legroom was. In fact, the only reason they didn’t give me one of their folding chairs was because they had already given them both away to people in the same boat as I was in. The ushers were great my night though. It was because of them I was able to enjoy Act 2.

Studio 54 seating question  Aug 3 2018, 10:33:36 PM
I was seated in the center rear mezzanine. I was so happy to get my ticket to the latest revival of Cabaret from TKTS. However, this was the only time I have ever gotten up in the middle of an act. And I was mid-row during Act 1. I was in such agony (I’m 6’2” with bad knees) that I was on the verge of tears. I stood in the entryway for remainder of Act 1. Then kind ushers re-seated me in a rear center mezzanine aisle seat at intermission. At least that gave me legroom from the aisle. They gave t

Studio 54 seating question  Aug 3 2018, 09:56:32 PM

All I can is avoid the rear mezzanine unless you are prepared to saw off your legs at the knee as there is zero legroom up there. #neveragain Not sure if front mezzanine is any better.

HAMILTON Principal Cast Replacements  Jul 31 2018, 12:53:36 PM
He’s great in the show. How long was he with the Chicago production? As he been associated with Hamilton prior to the Chicago run?

Good Hotels near the Theatre district?  Jul 30 2018, 11:08:10 PM
Via Priceline, I’ve gotten good-to-great rates via Priceline at these hotels: Paramount (looks like I’m lucky they didn’t try to add extra fees to my stay based on post above), Roosevelt (grand lobby, historic location, tiny room but what’s new in NYC, clean though and located right next to Grand Central Station), and Marriott Downtown (Financial District).

I’m lucky now to travel a lot for work so I accumulate lots of Hilton points so I don’t have to pay for rooms anymore. So nice!

Who is the rumored ?big name’ for Charlie?

Also, keep in mind that “big names” also require “big paychecks”

Donna Murphy to Return to Broadway's  Jul 30 2018, 09:44:32 PM
Seeing Hello, Dolly! Is one of the highlights of my NYC theater-going experiences. In fact, seeing it with Bette in November (and with Bernadette in February) is right up at the top of the list with seeing the OBC of Hamilton. I’d love to see it with Donna, but, alas, I won’t be back in NYC before it closes.

cryingI’m so sorry. That truly sucks. You need to marry a Horace to pay for that (although he’d probably cheap to pay).  Seriously though. Sometimes adulting seriously, truly sucks ba@ll$.

I’ve also gotten good deals via Priceline’s “Express Your Deals” or “Name Your Own Orice.” You can filter choices by star rating (never go lower than 3-stars) and neighborhood as well as other options. Just be aware you pay in advance and reservations are non-refundable unless you buy the insurance and even then if you meet certain criteria. Only time that they refunded me was right after Hurricane Sandy and my booked hotel was closed due to being water-logged. If you they don’t accept your bid

Ouch. Those figures for Carousel, GTBBT, and HOH. I’m curious how much longer Kinky Boots continues if its box office doesn’t improve.

Glad to see Spongebob doing well (if not great) even though it will never recoup before it closes.

I think Pretty Women is similar to Mean Girls in that it attracts a big demographic so it will continue to do well despite mixed critical response.

Yep, nothing says “fun NYC vacation” like getting plastered all by yourself in your hotel room.

And considering the mixed reviews Olivo is getting, maybe she gets replaced?

As someone who hasn’t seen the show but has read every post on this thread, I’d say the reception to Tveit’s performance has been much more tepid than the reaction to Olivio’s.

Also, in reference to The Rum Bar, the rum punch is delish and $10 if you can get there during happy hour (Noon to 6 p.m., I believe).
