OOTI [2017) Reviews  Aug 7 2018, 07:47:55 AM

suicidalmickeymouse said: "Excellent to hear she’s great! I’ve noticed that on the u/s boards I’ve seen Phillip Boykin (TonTon Julian) has been put a lot. Which understudies did you see? If any? I’ll be there this Sunday, so excited."

Phillip Boykin was out actually. T. Oliver Reid was on as TonTon Julian, and honestly, if I didn't know the distinction off the bat, I would’ve thought he was the lead Julian. He gave a fantas

OOTI [2017) Reviews  Aug 5 2018, 09:55:14 PM
Just saw the show at today’s matinee; I really, really loved it! I figured someone would want an update on how Loren Lott is faring so far.

The set is beautiful and fun, the rain, “ocean”, and sand were very atmospheric and pulled you into the world. I was struck by how creative and well-done the lighting was. Every cue was perfectly on time and supported the story, which I thought was unique. Something I also liked was the curtain in The Sad Tale of the Beauxhommes and how gradually t

It could work. Maria doesn’t sing that high; I don’t doubt that she could sing the role.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. And “On The Street Where You Live” is my favorite song on the OBCR. Can’t wait to hear it live!

MY FAIR LADY (2018) Reviews  Jul 22 2018, 11:04:11 PM
I saw My Fair Lady at yesterday night’s performance. The cast recording was beautifully orchestrated and seemed to reinvent the production, so I was excited to see this new production.

First of all, the production design is absolutely gorgeous. The set is minimalistic -in some aspects- and compliments the more simple, less idealized, humanized version of the show. Higgins’ study/house is a stunning piece; and gives the production a sense of grandeur prior to the embassy ball. The costu

Jazz Songs?  Jul 20 2018, 07:04:18 PM
I haven’t invested in The Last 5 Years, so I can’t say anything about your first option. But I wouldn’t meccasarily count Popular as jazzy; unless you’re talking about the jazz trio version. It’s a good choice though.

If you have to sing along with the routine, maybe Always True to you in My Fashion or Buddy Beware. Both are fairly age appropriate and a ton of fun, especially Buddy Beware.

Shows for conservative Grandma  Jul 13 2018, 08:22:49 PM
You can’t go wrong with Hello Dolly. But if she might want to see something with a modern flair, while still being a conservative period piece, Anastasia could be fun.

BREAKING: Ivo van Hove Will Direct Broadway Revival of WEST SIDE STORY  Jul 12 2018, 02:41:08 PM
Very, very excited about this. WSS is one of my all-time favorites, so a new interpretation of a classic like this is interesting to me.

Here is some of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker‘s work. I like her general style; some of this choreography reminds me of Robbins’. My only hope for this aspect is that they take cues from the OG while putting a fresh spin on it.

Seeking Dolly advice  Jun 9 2018, 02:10:53 PM
The mezz at the Shubert is wonderful and has a gorgeous view of the stage; honestly I prefer it over orchestra seats so you can have a clearer and wider view of the sets. TKTS is unpredictable and you might not get seats then.

Black Glinda  Jun 6 2018, 09:25:53 AM
Very excited about this! Brittney has a lovely voice and a bright personality; she seems perfect for Glinda. While it’s disheartening that it took this long to hav a poc play the role, I am happy for her. Would love to have her replace on tour.

Ruminations on HELLO, DOLLY!  May 27 2018, 10:18:47 PM

I would guess Horace marching in the 14th Street Parade is due to him wanting to represent his business from somewhere outside of Yonkers. However, him being a half-a-millionaire and all, I doubt he would have trouble selling his products. Irene not having an accent though is probably due to the bigotry the Irish faced in the late 1800’s; if she wanted to run a sufficient business she would’ve wanted to make sure there weren’t any detectable hints of her nationality. Getting

New Wicked recording?  Apr 7 2018, 09:23:26 PM
Both of those theories do make a lot of sense; it most likely is a few Out of Oz videos. It just seems a bit odd that they’re hyping it up so much when it’s most likely just a couple of studio mv’s, but I’m probably setting myself up for dissapointment.

New Wicked recording?  Apr 7 2018, 08:44:13 PM
I didn’t really know where to put this, mostly because all the Wicked threads have been about casting and this doesn’t fit that. On Amanda Jane Cooper and Jackie Burns’ Instagram stories/posts, they’ve been teasing something “secret”. All the pics and videos have been in a recording studio, and Jackie Burns then posted a story of Amanda singing Popular. Then on Amanda’s post, there were many comments asking if a new cast recording was being recorded, many of which Amanda liked. One comment menti

The Definitive Production  Apr 2 2018, 01:32:17 AM

I am too young to have seen the original production of Hello Dolly, but the ongoing production on Broadway (specifically with Donna Murphy) holds a very large place in my heart that several other Dolly productions I’ve seen have not been able to replicate.
90’s Guys and Dolls is a no-brainer.
I doubt nothing will ever top the level of incredible the original Into the Woods was. I also think most of the Sher revivals are near perfect productions, and definitely deser

Next WICKED Cast  Mar 20 2018, 11:23:38 PM
Just saw Wicked tonight, and I LOVED this cast! Laurel Harris was on for Elphaba, and good lord was she on fire! Her voice is like butter, it’s so smooth and soft yet incredibly powerful, and she riffed the roof off the Gershwin. Amanda Jane Cooper was such a fun Glinda; I loved her mannerisms and acting choices! During a lot of Act 2, she sounded close to tears and I thought it was an amazing touch to an already great performance. Also her Popular was hilarious. Ashley Parker Angel was an avera
