The German cast recording (which I bought about 17 years ago on CD) is one of my favorites of all the recordings. I don't know a word of English, but the passion of the characters are striking on this recording.

In another thread I brought up the play "Legends" which had a first disastrous run in the mid-80s (Channing and Martin), and a disastrous tour which never made it to Broadway in 2006-07 with Joan Collins and Linda Evans. Maybe a revival of this with Bernadette Peters (...and Bette Midler? Christine Ebersole? Lily Tomlin?) could work and make it a hit, for once.
I think the 'surprise success' of this summer's "Book Club" proved there is a market for films aimed at women over 50 - and this sequel fits the bill. I have a feeling it will get made, and if released at the right time, will become a hit.
As for the musical revival - yes, I can understand the hesitancy of funding it a second time.
One of Collins major complaints was the physical fighting between the two - Evans didn't know how to 'stage fight'. Instead, she really fought tooth and nail - injuring Collins a number of times. Wish I saw this when it was on tour. I wonder if Collins will ever do Broadway again?
This week there's been more talk - this time by Jane Fonda - that the sequel to the movie '9 to 5' is definitely happening, with costars Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton signed on to recreate their roles, after nearly 20 years. (Dolly Parton first mentioned this was happening six months ago - the project was being developed around the #MeToo movement). They're hoping this will be finished and released for sometime in 2019.
Now would be the time - she's off from "The View" for the next four weeks. Maybe some stunt casting can sell tickets?
Which reminds me, there was speculation that now would be the time if she really wanted to do "Hello Dolly" (as she stated publicly back in March) to step into the role while the show is on hiatus. But I guess the producers nixed that idea when they announced it will close and Midler returned to close it out.
I recall twelve years ago former "Dynasty" stars Linda Evans and Joan Collins reunited for an ill-fated run of "Legends" (originally staged in the mid-80s with Carol Channing and Mary Martin). The tour was to start in 2006 and make it's way to Broadway in the 2007-08 season, which it never did.
I know Collins kept a diary which was eventually posted on-line in which she said she would never work with Evans again - they didn't get along off-stage or on-stage

I feel the same way - which is why I bought my ticket to "Summer", being a Donna Summer fan. Do I regret it? Not at all. Did I love it? Not at all.

I finally saw this show this past Sunday afternoon. Thanks to LaChanze and Ariana DeBose musical talents (Storm Lever was not in the show but her understudy was very good) for saving this show which came across like a high school production on an off-night. I remember when the cast of MARGARITAVILLE were on back in the Spring, but I don't think Whoopi was the one who was praising it. If I remember correctly,Suny and Sarah were the two who went to see the show and praised the bartender who was giving out free margaritas that night - said they got drunk on margaritas in the lobby before the show started (no wonder they liked it?). They had more good things to say about the drinks than the show itself (probably couldn't remember it).<
