And YOUR point is? Sure, Oklahoma! has always been dark (some would say more subtly), but the juxtaposition of the cheeriness/upbeat nature of the songs provided some respite from a 2.5 hr bout of on-stage depression.

You were not. I was also not a fan at all, as I think I've mentioned elsewhere. Was surprised that it made the transfer, found it way too dark and joyless.

Alice By Heart (PREVIEWS)  Mar 6 2019, 03:15:58 PM
I saw this last night and I'm not sure why people have panned it so much. It wasn't exactly what I would consider to be great, but it wasn't offensively bad. There were several redeeming aspects including the choreography and set were pretty interesting. Certain performers were quite good, I thought Grace McLean was great, Noah Galvin was entertaining, the Caterpillar. I actually thought Molly Gordon was one of the better performers as well. I find Colton Ryan's singing to be...subpar and it

BE MORE CHILL (Broadway) Previews  Feb 27 2019, 12:07:22 PM
That seems very unlikely. Dear Evan Hansen was essentially sold-out to oversold from the first full week of previews through to present day, 1.5 years later.

BMC is already down after the first week of previews, and seats seem available for all shows, even in the immediate future. Not only are overall ticket prices lower, overall sales and gross are also lower. I'm not saying it definitely won't be profitable, but I don't think there's much to suggest that it will have anything close t

tbh, I've been the site before and never bothered even watching that clip before or after I went until you asked about it. Seems like a job for whoever does the marketing for the show, but generally I think word of mouth, critic's reviews, print ads, etc. all have more effect on the show itself. I don't think a lot of people even bother visiting the sites for the shows themselves, let alone base their purchase decisions off the content on those sites.

Oh well - it's a limited engagemen

The Other Josh Cohen  Feb 25 2019, 11:34:47 AM
The clip on the website seems like cobbled together clips of "outrageous" ridiculous moments all pieced together. I would not judge this show based on this clip at all as it doesn't accurate convey the humor and emotions of the show. You could listen to the studio cast recording on Spotify or something, although that might ruin/lessen the experience of seeing it live. (Side note, at least look at the notoriety of the people they got to participate in that recording, it's like an all-star cast of

Chill or Oklahoma  Feb 24 2019, 11:59:59 PM
I'm probably in the minority here, but I found Oklahoma! to be way too dark and almost joyless to really enjoy it. I also thought the sound at St. Ann's was just terrible, and while there were one or two bright spots by supporting players (Mary Testa) - as a whole, I guess I really did not "get it" or enjoy this version of Oklahoma! at all and was quite frankly shocked that it transferred to Broadway.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed Be More Chill. Was it a more traditional musical (

To be fair, literally all of that is in the text of the show.

Agreed, not to imply they made anything up - more that it definitely emphasizes the much darker nature of the

DEH Partial View Row E  Feb 21 2019, 10:48:12 AM
Should I be the first person to question why you're bringing a 10 year old to see DEH?

That said, most of the "action" as it were, happens center stage, I don't think you'll necessarily "miss" anything just be watching from an angle.

Simply, anyone looking for an uplifting or old-fashioned musical should not be attending this. I saw it during the St. Ann's run and it was very dark, with scenes involving basically murder, contemplating suicide, drug use, etc. Personally, I found that it was lacking any real joy for the entire show. I don't think it's the "momsical" you're looking for.

We Are Tigers  Feb 18 2019, 02:16:59 PM
No, all of the chairs have backs as far as I recall. Those bleacher seats just seem to be what they call some of the seats in the front row.

I guess my point is the old "is anything original anymore?" the mere fact that half of all shows are movie adaptations can be put to the same argument of unoriginality. Sometimes something well executed can be just as enjoyable as something done with an original twist.

I think the expectation of originality just seems misplaced, especially in an environment like Broadway where there is literally an entire portion

Not really. Telling/warning/reprimanding a PR agency or a staff worker "hey, we saw someone had purchased a comp ticket on Stubhub that we have assigned to you, please (tell your reps to) stop doing this" is one thing. My point remains no theatre/theatre company will just su

I disagree here. An adaptation doesn’thave an obligation to include every single word of its source material, warts and all. An adaptation has achance to improve and expand upon its source material. Ifsomething from the source doesn’t work

It’s not that we can’t have new plays/movies about these subjects, but if you aren’t going to approach the subject in a new way, then what’s the point of doing it, eve

If you bought trade comps on StubHub, others have done it too. You may not be the one that is found out, it could be any of those illicit sales. This was an adaptation of a book, which they mostly adhered to. Seems like people complaining about retreading old material should really be a complaining about the source material.

As for the complaint that somehow similar songs being in other musicals somehow makes it invalid also assumes that everyone who watches this musical has seen 13. That seems especially presumptuous not only for the target audience, but really even for other theatergoers. Or it could be considered a modern

You were talking about getting denied entry to the show. The point (as others have also said) is that unless you report yourself about the tickets you are holding, no one is going to stop you from using those tickets. A lot of things can be in the gray area like selling comp tickets - technically resllers aren't allowed to sell tickets for more than 20% over face value in New York -
