I'll pile on and agree. A truly awful piece of 'musical theatre.' Cox was the one and only highlight (and is genuinely a very nice person and gracious with her fans). The whole time I was watching it at Shea's in Buffalo I was thinking -- is this real, or am I trapped in some SNL skit of actors acting in a horrible production? It was laughable for all the wrong reasons.
Is the choreography for THE PROM bad? Jun 30

All analytics of choreography aside, this company is CRUSHING it. Their enthusiasm up there is inspiring.
Was the company really singing ‘Tonight Belongs To Us/It’s Time To Dance’ at the Tonys while also dancing their faces off? I’ve watched it over and over again and thought ‘how can they sound so loud and do good while doing that/after just doing all that?’ I thought the same with HAIRSPRAY performing ‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’ although that choreography was much less frenetic.

This debate popped up on YouTube with the clip from the Tony performance. Several people were asking how the show couldnt possibly have been nominated for Best Choreography. One poster said it was because the choreography was glorified cheerleading moves and did not do what its supposed to do - tell a story.
I love the show and loved the Tony performance, but the choreography does bother me at times. It feels over-choreographed at times... to the point where the amazing Beth Leavel alm

“(You’re) Timeless to Me” from HAIRSPRAY
I saw the tour last night in Buffalo. The current cast is incredibly talented. All of their voices are INSANE. It's a fun show that never takes itself too seriously.
That said, it had a 'cheap' feel to it compared to the original touring production I saw several years ago - from the set to the wigs to the wardrobe. I didn't enjoy a lot of the show being staged on a catwalk between two spiral staircases above the main stage. It also seemed longer - but maybe that's j
Wanted to share this with everyone on this board...
I was talking to a neighbor last night who now lives in Western New York but used to be a police officer in NYC. He was stationed in the precinct that includes Times Square. He was recalling that as a rookie officer, he was often stationed right outside the Marriott Marquis and, more specifically, the Marquis Theatre. This was during the run of the revival of 'Annie Get Your Gun.' He said he would see Bernadette almost nightly
I'll admit I haven't followed much about this show over the past year. In fact the one thing I remember most about it was the weird marketing last summer involving puppets (that was The Prom, right?)
I was in NYC last weekend and had time to see a Sunday matinee. I was debating between The Cher Show and The Prom. Everyone I asked said GO SEE THE PROM. And I'm SO GLAD I did. I think it's my new Hairspray/Kinky B
Anyone know how many members of the OBC were in the closing cast?
I have eight by my count - Charlie, Don, Trish, George, one of the angels, two more male factory workers and one more female (I'm sorry - I don't have my Playbill!)
-I’ve said it before. J. Harrison Ghee IS Lola. I believe this is the third time I’ve seen him and he NEVER disappoints. He’s fabulous in every way without being over the top. He was visibly moved by the long, standing ovation that followed ‘Hold Me In Your Heart.’
-Speaking of ‘Hold Me In Your Heart,’ I wanted to kill the guy in center mezz I believe who kept going ‘WOOOOO!” throughout

I was just going to provide an update but ACL2006 beat me to it! They opened the box office a little early too. I’m surprised there are enough tickets left to satisfy everyone in line, but happy everyone in line will (likely) get a ticket.
The box office guy from the theatre was super friendly. He said it’s a great but emotional day. He added the orchestra is not available to the public and former cast members would be in attendance. I asked if Cyndi will be here. He said he “couldn’t
So this "You-Had-Me-At-Shabam" KINKY BOOTS fan broke down and splurged on plane tickets and a theatre ticket to Sunday's final show (Left Mezz Row B). People will call me crazy. It was several hundred dollars. But I love this show and I'm so excited to hear those songs, see that dancing and watch this cast take its final bow. I attended the closing of HAIRSPRAY in 2009 and it was one of the most joyous experiences of my life. I am sure this will be right up there.
My city is among the dozens of cities that will get DOLLY during the 2019-2020 touring season. I'm basing this off no inside knowledge, but I'm guessing Ms. Buckley still won't be with the show a year from now.
Any ideas/suggestions/wishes on a pragmatic replacement? They don't NEED a name, but in a way.. to carry a dated yet beloved show like DOLLY... they really do.
Ugh. Frustrating! I entered but haven't gotten a code either. I wish they would have just put the seats on sale at a certain date and time like all other closing shows do. I guess our best bet may be StubHub - where I'll bet they'll be going for a pretty penny!
In those days, "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp" would never have won Best Song.
It won Best Song in 2005.
You want to talk about a rob job? Dolly Parton got ROYALLY ROBBED this year, with her "Travelin' Through" losing out to "Pimp." It's a shame. That would have put Dolly one giant step closer to the exclusive EGOT club.
