As good as Gaga was and she was good to me the best scenes were when she was with Cooper. Cooper I think gave her a lot to really play with and their chemistry was fantastic. I have to say I was also really impressed with the sound during the concert scenes. Very much made you feel what it would sound like being on those stages.
So has Michael Cera gone backwards or forwards with this play. Him getting nominated for Lobby Hero seemed to suggest he isn't terrible on stage yet we have some people here who thinks he's terrible in this production.
Seeing Cabaret on Broadway with Alan Cumming at Studio 54 (original production) Or I guess more specifically when he takes his jacket off at the end. I haven't been gut punched like that in theater before or since.
Walked out during intermission. Maybe the 2nd Act is great but found it meandering and kind of dull. And I have no idea what Al Pacino was doing. Baffling performance.
I agree with everyone else loved the material and the performances but found it distractedly stagey. It made me wish that I just saw the Broadway production. Washington is still not a great director.
Did anybody ever see the movie that I think was in the 90s. Very underrated and quite great. I'd be curious to see this show to see how they messed up the book when the movie has such an elegantly told story
This play holds a special place in my heart. For two long weekends in my high school year my parents took me to New York from Tennessee to treat us all to some Broadway shows. While we were lucky enough to see some special things including the revival of Caberet with Cumming and Jennifer Jason Leigh and the first off Broadway production of Hedwig it is the original production of Beauty Queen remains the most memorable simply because it was the most unexpected. We went in completely blin
Sorry if I am repeating a topic but just curious did you ever see a play or musical in out of town try outs or previews that changed drastically for the worse on opening night and if so how?
The article really undermines itself by pretending that it is impossible to hear about the show outside of New York. Has he not heard of the cast album that sells everywhere and has been? Does he not realize that Broadway shows then tour so anyone can have the chance of seeing it that doesn't live in new York.
Also not everybody likes it just to like it or to prove some political point. I love the soundtrack because it has compelling catchy music that sticks. Also I'm pretty su
While I have not seen the show I wonder if the supernatural element acts in the same way that the frog shower acts in one of my favorite films Magnolia. In Magnolia the frog shower is an element of the supernatural or divine in what was an other wise intensely felt and realistic melodrama. Yet I couldn't imagine Magnolia any other way. The frog shower seems to lift the story into something bigger.
