HAMILTON Principal Cast Replacements  Sep 22 2018, 04:31:58 PM

Rainah said: "Blah. They should ALL be wigged or have long hair. I loved the small details of how to OBC used hair to signify different things about the characters (or in some cases, that they are different characters).

It's Hamilton. They can certainly afford wigs. They also have the clout to say "If you want to be considered, you must be willing to grow your hair long" the same way Fun Home requiredkate shindle to cut her hair off. And it seems like they us

Ain't Too Proud Officially Heading to Broadway  Aug 27 2018, 01:25:45 AM

YvanEhtNioj said: "One of my best friends was in one of the tryouts for the show. I told him, like most of you, I didnt see the point since we already have Motown.

We literally have 9,026 shows of white people whiting, but because we had "Motown", having a Temptations musical is too much? Okay, Connor........Thanks for that. *rolls my eyes back into blackness*

Can you take videos during curtain call  Aug 27 2018, 01:20:05 AM

Why is a curtain call video the way to remember a show??? Why not see the show, keep your program and ticket stub, and see who you meet & take pics with at the Stage door? Just.....do better. LoL

WILLIAM IVEY LONG - HARASSMENT CLAIM  Aug 10 2018, 06:56:42 PM

Well....This could get interesting. I'll always wonder who bought the NYTimes to hush that article. Maybe Buzzfeed will pickup where the Times left off....

Natalie Weiss  Jun 20 2018, 10:30:55 AM

She also travels the world as her own boss, making money and not having to pay an agent a dime! Lil white girls pay BIG money for her to teach them how to riff. She creates her own schedule and does what SHE wants. Broadway is not the end all be all, especially when you dont fit the mold. Waiting for your phone to ring, waiting to be cast, waiting for the right show is NOT the way to live. She's found her niche and her lane. I give her MAD props.

Are blondes allowed to play Nessarose in Wicked?  Jun 20 2018, 10:27:36 AM

BrodyFosse123 said: "FYI: due to mics and logistics, ALL actresses on Broadway in musicals wear wigs, even Bernadette Peters. Even if their real hair is exactly like the hair as their character, it is easier to maintain a wig 8 performances a week as well as handle the logistics of their mics.

Thats a WHOLE LIE!!!! Of the OBC Schuylers, only Renee wore a wig, and both Sasha & Ariana wore their  natural hair. There are women in Waitress who aren't

Diversity  Jun 12 2018, 05:05:13 PM

I mean, it's interesting to me that Fences was this big sell-out hit, but now Denzel is doing this 4 hour Irish drama and it's a pretty easy ticket to get. How come the Black Community came out in droves for that, but not this? Is it the playwright? Is it the play? Etc. Just find it all interesting."

Hmmmm You really don't know? Did you see how Fences was marketed? Did you see the number of Black faces and names on the flyer? They actually marketed it TO the B

Tony Nominees Calling Out  Jun 12 2018, 04:57:18 PM

Lord. Do Y'all KNOW how rough the weeks leading up to the TONY awards are? It's ridiculous! There's all the other award shows, you're doing interviews and press and Good morning America and The View, there's rehearsal and camera blocking rehearsal, not to mention (at OOTI especially), they are losing SEVERAL cast members very soon (Alysha, Grasan, Loren, Alex, etc.), so they're doing rehearsals AND put-ins. The day of the awards show you have to be at your theatre at 8

Dream Cast Deena in Dreamgirls Revival  May 29 2018, 06:40:22 PM

Lord Jesus. Y'all aren't familiar with enough Black Broadway women to have this conversation. Did you actually say Mya? Adrienne Warren is headlining as Tina dang Turner, Ariana as friggin Donna Summer, and you want them to take career steps Backwards to play... Deena? Renee would NEVER. She's 3 years from 50, come on!

Here's a short list of some Black Girls for y'all to google for Deena: Felicia Boswell, Ashley Ware-Jenkins, Amber Iman, Aisha Jackso

THE SECRET GARDEN Revival Set for 2018-2019 Season  May 11 2018, 02:22:25 AM

GeorgeandDot said: "VERY bad choice to cast the only black woman as the maid."

WAITRESS only lets Black Women play the fat role.

HAMILTON only lets dark-skinned Black women play Peg/Maria or Angelica .... point me to a dark-skinned Eliza - not a swing or a cover... it's never happened...

I could keep going but I'm already exhausted

There's a PLETHORA of Black women problems on Broadway. This is the Best role and she's going t

How is playing the lead in 2 Broadway musicals and workshops of 2 broadway bound musicals in the span of one year not being in demand? First of all- not taylor’s mom, long time lurker. Didn’t know who she was when i joined this board 10 years ago. She was in high school. Just think she’s very talented and the proof is in the pudding. In what, 5 years, she&

Was Kristolyn Lloyd making a dig towards DEH?  Apr 21 2018, 12:40:22 AM

HeyMrMusic said: "I mean, look at the standbys of Frozen. No explanation of a black Anna or a half-Japanese Elsa. It’s just whatever."

But in Broadway's Frozen, Anna's Father is Black and her mother is White.....so a Black Anna would need no explanation.........cuz it makes sense. Having White Elsa and White Anna is actually what doesn't make sense, when you look at how they cast the parents.....

Sierra Boggess to play Maria in West Side Story in London  Apr 21 2018, 12:38:27 AM

natashalost said: "So disappointing. I love Sierra but this was just flat out stupid.

Couldn't they have gotten Solea Pfeiffer? I've seen her do it four times now, twice at the Hollywood Bowl and theKennedy Center. Both times she was spectacular. She's truly a star in the making.
"

But Solea.......isn't.......Puerto Rican....................... Lord Jesus.

If you're unaware, her mother is Black and her father i

Was Kristolyn Lloyd making a dig towards DEH?  Apr 19 2018, 04:32:40 PM

qolbinau said: "I doubt it’s a dig at a specific show - maybe the culture of casting in general. But sad for her to think she might have been cast for token ‘diversity’ (or racial diversity* more specifically - I want to continue to challenge the notion that diversity is just skin-deep). Maybe she was cast because she was the best person for the role? At least, I hope so.

Unfortunately, we all have to call BULL and SHIIIII. That show was in DC with

Do actors stagedoor for 2:00 shows?  Mar 31 2018, 04:36:35 PM

There's no one answer for this question. It differs from day to day, actor to actor. Sometimes they nap, or have rehearsals, or they're more tired than usual or they might stage door. Just go to the stage door and see what happens.

Laura Osnes and the Tony  Feb 27 2018, 01:36:11 AM

what do new actors look for in their first job  Feb 27 2018, 01:32:39 AM

a paycheck. not having to strip on a pole.

question  Feb 27 2018, 01:31:09 AM

For the love of Christ and everything he stood for, PLEASE let it be a woman of color. ANY COLOR. We deserve another Pearl Bailey moment. Audra. Jenifer Lewis. Lillias. There's plenty to choose from. JUST like we deserve a JENNA that isn't white, but I digress.......
