Um Robin is 34 and he doesn't read anywhere near 16/17, which is the character's age... but yes, a stage adaptation of this could work but that original cast should not be playing any of the principal high school roles.

This might sound a bit crazy, after the Spider-Man fiasco, but I’d love to see a stage adaptation of Batman Returns. Danny Elfman’s score is gorgeous and there’s enough drama and pathos to make for some great dynamics. Since it was also pre-Blockbuster Batman- there really isn’t THAT much action either, so I don’t think it would have to be as impossible as Spider-Man was at the time. Imagine dream casting a Broadway Catwoman!

I don't think Glenn Close is a very good stage actress, at least not in the last 2 shows she's done on Broadway. A Delicate Balance was straight up painful to sit through and she flubbed many portions of the endlessly excruciating monologues in that play. Hmmm I seem to remember Fun Home being lauded within the theater community pre-Tony;s, but I remember the performance of Ring of Keys drumming up a lot of interest for the show and that coupled with the Best Musical win I think definitely helped extend it's life.

YES! This is the perfect description. I saw it this weekend, loved the movie but knew to walk into this with zero expectations after being severely disappointing by Aladdin. I just saw it in Chicago last week, got tickets for half-price. It was definitely worth the price I paid. If I had paid top dollar... not so much. The story is melodramatic beyond belief (even more than Phantom) and the second act kind of drags. As much as I HATE updating period pieces to modern times, I will say that Oliver! is a lot more rooted in reality than Annie is so I could actually see this story being a bit more adaptable to modern times. I absolutely loved it! Was a little bit confused about the tone of the show the first 15 mins or so because I wasn't entirely sure what the producers' intentions were. It turned out to be heartfelt and funny. I hope that if the show does eventually make it to full series they maybe focus on one or two groups of actors for an entire season because I almost felt like everything was too rushed and we didn't really get to know everyone as well as I would have liked.
