Predicting a HUGE HIT HERE for Chu's vision of this rich timely musical. LMM made this in 1999 I think. Seems so so right for THIS MOMENT.Compared to West Side Story (where Latino's stab people) movie, I think In the Heights is RIGHT ON with being a stage-to-filmstory that is timely and right on.

Two white guys, remaking a CLASSIC West Side Storyabout Latinos seems no bueno to me.

If marketed and played just right, in the heights could be the biggest surprise of summer 2020. even above the big blockbuster movies and based on the trailer, i see a lot of awards potential for it as well. this movie will be so important to so many and it will be so representative of such a beautiful community.

Act I

  • "In the Heights" — Definitely in, I wonder if all of the scenes in it will stay as musicalized.
  • "Breathe" — In, maybe shortened?
  • "Benny's Dispatch" — Fun song but idk that it's needed, is it also a thing in

it was obvious from the beginning that this would be trash. seeing the reviews doesn’t shock me

latinos in general need representation but its time to represent them as they are. black, white, indigenous or a mix of everything. washington heights is the blackest latin dominican neighborhood in NYC. this musical is supposed to celebrate all latin communities including afro latinx and so i expect to see plenty of afro latinos in this.

Musical Master said: "Quite excited for this one, the show is very good and I'm glad Lin had personal involvement with this. It's also very visually exciting."

on wikipedia, they added a running time of 155 minutes. that’s 2 hours and 35 minutes. i think that’s a fake running time. it hasn’t even been confirmed yet.

how long do you guys think this movie will be? cause the musical is very long. i really hope that it’s at least 2 hours and up. 125-130 minutes would be a good runtime for this movie

It was like this in the Original cast of browadway play lmao. The film actually does a better job of casting more darker skinned latinos imo. Leslie Grace who plays Nina is Domini

washington heights is a community filled with black latinos. dark skinned latinos. i expect to see that. but hollywood always wants to portray all latinos as light skinned. i’m just gonna wait to see the movie, i don’t want to pass off too much judgment especially since we have only seen a two minute trailer.

Instead of Hollywood so white, now it's Hollywood so light-skinned Latino? I looked at my program from the first tour and the casting in the movie is on par with the stage version.

so it’s official. camila has been cut from the movie. it’s such a shame cause i loved her song enough. i think they cut camila to make the story more intriguing. especially between nina and her father. so apparently she was killed off before the story starts.

this movie has the potential to be one of the best movie musicals ever made. and i hope that it becomes one of the biggest grossing musical movies. it looks absolutely fantastic. this will definitely be extremely faithful to the musical. this movie is gonna be so special. to see this type of latinx representation is such a beautiful thing. this movie will be so important to so many and it will be so representative of such a beautiful community. we definitely needed this now more than ever. my ex
