However, if there truly is a "name" attached, I'm going to assume that name is outside of the Broadway community. Neither Foster nor Benanti qualify as names.
But if Rosalie Craig gets rave reviews I don't see them dropping her. And I don't see this transferring without LuPone, either."
I haven't seen specific dates for the digital of physical releases yet other than sometime this Fall. Not sure it will be out by the first preview date, but should be very close.
I'm looking forward to the show and I hope it's a success. The cast and creative team are all very talented and I think a fun new musical comedy is just what Broadway needs.
It's all very simple. I followed Guettel on Twitter. I saw his Tweet and immediately stopped following him. I go by the old rule....when someone shows you who they truly are, believe them! Guettel showed me who he truly was and I believed him and I stopped following him...simple as that. No need for further discussion or rumination over the issues....life is too short and my time is too precious to interact with people like that.
I was wondering if the recording session had taken place on Monday....many of the cast & creatives with the show that I follow on Twitter were very silent online on Monday. I wonder which label will be distributing and when the announcement will happen.....don't usually love jukebox musical cast recordings, but am really looking forward to this one.
It should be interesting to see what happens......with reports that Moulin Rouge is waiting until next Summer (so as not to compete with King Kong from the same producers), what other shows having out of town tryouts seem likely? Dave? Lempicka? Tootsie? Hadestown?
They're selling window cards at the theater. Just got a frame for mine"
Very interesting....they aren't even selling them on the show's website....they do have clothing and magnets, etc, but no show cards.....I'll have to see if I can find one online somewhere to add to my collection!
I think a cast recording would be a smart investment for promoting future regional productions of the show and I suspect a recording announcement could come soon.....I am surprised that there don't appear to be any show posters for sale for this....at least not online at Triton Gallery.....are they selling at the theatre? Seems like a no-brainer as a souvenir for fans of the show.
Interesting news story this afternoon.....Reprise 2.0 in Los Angeles had scheduled Carmen Cusack starring in Victor/Victoria this Sept, but today announced that the production has been postponed and replaced with And The World Goes 'Round....HMMMM.....makes you wonder, don't it???
The cast posted several weeks ago on Twitter that they were in the studio doing their cast recording. A track from it (She Works Hard For The Money) is included on the Broadway Records Tony 2018 collection and the booklet states that the Summer Original Broadway Cast Recording will be released by Republic Records. As of now, there is no info on the Republic website so we don't have a release date yet.
Very interesting.....guess they really were struggling to find something to bring in. Still begs the question as to what exactly happened with Crazy For You? I am surmising that it just wasn't ready or someone in the cast/creative team had a serious scheduling conflict that couldn't be worked around. The recent NY workshop would seem to indicate that they weren't 100% confident in what they had regarding any possible revisions to the show. To be honest, I n
Not really sure Aint Too Proud is actually the replacement show since it clearly states that it's part of the 2018/2019 Season and the missing show is supposed to be a part of the current 2017/2018 Season. If that's what they are intending, what are they going to do for the 2017/2018 subscribers who paid for a certain number of shows and are now being short-changed???
Soft Power was already part of the announced season, although I do see it will also be playing in SF -- guess they are seriously thinking it will move to Bway at some point.
My hope (as unrealistic as it may be) is that they are waiting for Donna Murphy to conclude with HELLO DOLLY in NY and will then announce that the Broadway production of WAR PAINT will be brought in with Ebersole again playing Arden and Murphy playing Rubenstein! I can dream, can't I?
I saw the show during one of the final previews with a theatre friend of mine. It had a wonderful cast, although Bostwick and Gleason were no Powell & Loy, but the talent up on stage was amazing. Sadly, the show around them was a real mess. We didn't care at all about the mystery (the murder of Lorraine, played by Faith Prince) and the score was a mix of some nice songs and some very forgettable songs. The thing we remembered most was Faith Prince. Neithe
It really depends on the creative team working on the show. I have written the libretto for 3 different musicals. In two of the instances, I wrote the full libretto as if it was a straight play knowing full well that the emotional high and low points would likely be removed and replaced with songs (never easy to see happen when you work so hard on those scenes, but it is part of the process) and on the third show, much of the score had already been written by the time I joined the proje
Very odd "exclusive" story over at Deadline.com. Stating that DISASTER! will be closing July 3rd to make way for another show which will be announced later. It was announced back in February that MOTOWN was opening at the Nederlander on July 12th; so, it's pretty logical that DISASTER! would be closing before that. Does Deadline's Jeremy Gerard not read the theatre websites???
