I sort of feel sorry for her. She made some choices furthering her career that made her come across as a prima donna. But she's got talent, and I'd love to see her make a comeback on Broadway or Off Broadway, especially in a smaller role. She was so good in Spring Awakening.
I have to hope that she doesn't get wind of some of the comments here. I'm sure she'd be hurt.
Not normally looking to see razzle dazzle anymore when I go to the theater these days. There are plenty of wonderful revivals to provide me with that. But, with a new work, I hope to see something creative and spellbinding. Didn't see that in The Band's Visit.
I've been living in Manhattan and attending the theater here in the city for over 40 years. That critic, Christopher Kelly, from Jersey was spot on about The Bands Visit. I saw more walk outs and yawns than ever before than the night when I attended the show.
I've been reading the print edition of the NY Post for over 40 years. It's a good read going home on the train. I will miss Michael Riedel's two weekly columns, but, I get it, times have changed. I always enjoyed reading the arts and society columns in the newspapers. I enjoyed reading columns by Earl Wilson, Ed Sullivan, and Suzy Knickerbocker. I'm glad Cindy Adams is still writing her column. I know I'm hanging on to the past, but newspapers were so good back then.
I purchased tickets for Hamilton on June 25th for the Saturday matinee on September 5th (great seats in the orchestra). I was disappointed, though, when I read yesterday that Lin would not be performing. So today I crossed my fingers and went to the Richard Rodgers box office and politely asked if it was possible to exchange the tickets for a date when Lin would be performing. The woman behind the box office window was very kind and understanding, but when she asked her manager if I coul
I love almost everything I see on Broadway, but my two big disappointments were the 1991 production of Miss Saigon and the recent Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific.
Elizabeth Wilson's performance in the 1976 revival of Three Penny Opera was wonderful. The entire production was so memorable. I revisited the show many times.

I've no luck seeing her in a show. She was out when I went to both Bullets and Carrie. I was disappointed, but, oh well.
Favorite CD by a broadway star/performer? Aug 19

I never tire of listening to The Maury Yeston Songbook. Beautiful songs sung by Betty Buckley, Laura Benanti, Sutton Foster, Brian d'Arcy James, Christopher Fitzgerald, Brent Barrett and many others. Just a perfectly romantic CD.
