That's the irony. One would think given how many LGBT people are involved with this production, that casting an openly out gay actor (for the lead gay role) would be pivotal. I don't know the hiring process but it is intere
I know it is not required for actors to be gay in order to play these roles but being gay is an essential part of the story of The Inheritance. I was just disappointed that the lead role of a very important play about LGBTQ community went to a straight actor. Maybe he is bisexual? He did win an Olivier and he had great reviews. But I wish for a play about our LGBTQ history would actually be played by predominantly gay actors specially the leads. I am ok abou

Laurie Metcalfe has been nominated for an acting Tony award for four straight years (winning two)... Is that a record (For an acting award regardless if its musical or play, lead or featured)? (And she is sure to nab a fifth for Virginia Wolff next year!)

The rush line is outside (so pay attention to the weather) just south (to the right) of the main doors on Park Ave. There's a sign as well that says "Rush Ticket Line Starts Here". The immediate area is residential - if you need a snack/drink

I think our posts crossed paths :)
Here's my experience... Irushed it on Monday 3/25 (I got there at 10:40a (for 12p rush sales)and was 4th in line, but as word-of-mouth grows, you'll want to get there earlier, especially on weekends).
The Armory has two long benches with a Rush Line Starts Her
Ever since Kiss Me Kate opened I haven’t read any buzz about Kelli’s performance being worthy of a Tony win. Last year they say it was a two way race but now do you guys believe that Stephanie would be a lock for the win? There are only 3 more musicals opening with Noblezada for Hadestown, Caruso for Beetlejuice and Cooper for Tootsie and I don’t think their roles are big enough to threaten Stephanie’s critically acclaimed performance.

For a nomination? I would believe so. But for a win definitely not. It has to go thru The Ferryman and Mockingbird who are competing for that medallion. It's still a two way race with Ink breathing in at 3rd spot. So if Gary gets great to rave reviews I thi
I would really love to see Love! Valour! Compassion! and I would also love to see Joe Mantello to direct it again with an all gay cast like the boys in the band... I wonder who could play buzz...
I was hoping that Bent which was revived in Los Angeles would be transferred here but alas it wasn't meant to be. Would love seeing that on stage.
Lastly I hope they can revive Sweet Charity but with the original Bob Fosse choreography. I am dying to see the rich man's f
Just went stagedooring last night (sorry for making it a verb!) and the five usual suspects came out last night with the addition of Beth Malone as she played the angel yesterday. They all look tired but were still very very gracious. Love them all! Denise Gough was very appreciative of all the love as people were showering her with praises for People Places and Things. McArdle was very friendly and talked with lots of people as did Garfield, Pace and Stewart. They all didn't have to for
Sad for James though. I've seen both performance and he was far better than Cera, and even Tyree. I liked Lobby Hero though. Hopefully Angels can sweep the acting awards (except actress ofcourse) and can snag one or two technical awards from HP

Glenda Jackson vs Denise Gough vs Willie Piper.... God these ladies gave the best performance of the century. Can we just make it a three way tie!?!? How the hell can you decide which one is better!?!? They were all trancendant!
Wow... I believe that the strongest set design and sound design was Once On This Island and they weren't even nominated!
I agree that one of the best performances of an actress in lead role was Denies Gough for People Places and Things, and add Billie PipEr as well for Yerma but I don't know if either was eligible. So hard to determine if Brooklyn theater is considered as a lot of great performances come from St. Ann's and BAM (and is Armory considered an off-broadway
I know that critics and tony voters are a whole different group and mindset (although I think some critics are voters as well - I may be wrong) but as My Fair Lady is getting positive to rave reviews I just want to group the following shows as per critics to get a sense of who will triumph on Tony night... pls. Feel free to correct any errors
Oh! I love top 10 lists ! (Though I seem to remember making one before - was there a similar thread?)... anyway (Note that I have only been watching Broadway and touring shows since 2001).

4. Fun Home
5. Sunday in the Park with George
6. Kinky Boots

I believe there were two press days last week for Angels in America. One on Wednesday and one for opening might. And both days are for parts one and two so a number of orchestra seats are comps for a total of four shows.
