Beautiful production, so much talent on stage, seems like some kind of miracle they could pull it off
Does anyone have an idea how much rehearsal time a show like this gets? I'm so curious about the whole process of how they put these things together, but this one in particular because it was so good and had such a special cast
Saw the show Tues & there was no special guest. I enjoyed it, glad I saw it but some of the bits were hit or miss. The serious parts where he talked about attempts on his life & the Flint piece were the highlights. I thought I was fairly informed about Flint, but there was quite a bit of detail that I didn't know, really horrendous what's happened there.
It's a very demanding show & Oscar in particular has a difficult part, he actually started to lose his voice when I saw it last week. Pretty rough for the people who have tickets, he was really outstanding
Saw it last night and loved it, it's funny and entertaining throughout. I think Bartlett is one of the best writers in theater & Amy Ryan was terrific. Act 3 might need a little tightening, but thought the 1st 2 acts were both very enjoyable. The dialogue has a Mamet like cadence at times, that may bother some people, but I would recommend this highly & may try to see it again towards the end of the run to see if there are any changes
That's great news, really enjoyed this show. Although I wish they could import the Duke of York theater also, what a perfect venue for this show, so intimate and regal
I'm relieved to see other people didn't get the story either. I thought the music was very strong & the 3 main characters were all excellent in their roles. I would recommend it, even though the plot was a confusing mess, because the performances & music won me over. I liked it more than Lazarus
afterthesun- Spike Lee filmed Passing Strange live on Broadway in case you want to see it on film
Saw this a few days ago, enjoyed it for what it was but agree Sheridan would not transfer well. She is a gifted comic actress, but her voice isn't strong enough for the role.
I do hope the bring People, Places & Things over though, it's outstanding in every way & Denise Gough is brilliant
Saw it tonight, and I think they have made some changes, because I didn't find it a handicap not to have seen the film. I liked the staging & how they used the video. Agree with most of what the last couple of posters said. Glad I saw it but don't think it's essential. There was only 1 person in line for returns, he was able to buy 2 tickets, but not together for those of you interested in trying for tickets. I don't know if there were other singles available, bu
Saw the Sunday matinee, and it reminded me of Skylight in its perfection, economy of language and pitch perfect performances. Was surprised that this early in previews the show works so seamlessly. Thank you to those who advised going last min to the box office, that's what I did, ticket was $31 and has to be the best theater bargain in NY. If they can't extend it, I'm certain it will be back again soon, this is too good a show to go away
Saw this twice in London & I think it's excellent, very curious to see how audiences here respond to it. Mike Bartlett is one of the most interesting & exciting young talents writing for theater today, the cast is exceptional as well.
