re: Shrek? Could it? May 13

Am a bit relieved to see some people valuing the small treasure Shrek is. I am unabashedly a fan, but even by trying to bias out of the equation, I don't get the hate. It's not perfect, but the performances are amazing, the costumes are ingenious, some of the lyrics are clever (others are cringe-worthy, so they even themselves out), and it's just plain fluffy fun. I do not understand the Billy Elliot love. Yes, the kids are fantastic dancers, but singing/acting wise, they are average (with the e

I saw 4 of 5 noms, and I agree the Tony's Alice's. However, I don't seem to get the lack of ho hum-ness for Sutton. It's probably because of the distaste for Shrek, which I'm in the minority and truly enjoy. That being said, Alice is given a LOT more to work with, and I always give props for someone who can cry on cue 8 times a week. I've always good comedy is harder to pull off and I see a strong character arch with Sutton, but I am biased. Janney I didn't get, though. She was lovely, but I wou

I seem to remember back in ....1996(?), there was a huge fuss because Swingin' on a Star was nominated over Victor/Victoria and Big even though it fan only lasted like two weeks. I think there was another closed show that was nominated as well, but the name escapes me. Anyway, the performed and V/V, Big, and one other show was offer to do short bits (ala Little Mermaid and Catered Affair last year). I know Big accepted, but it was quite a public thing that Julie Andrews banned the Tonys that yea

Ha! That's what I feared, and wouldn't you know, my Friday night show is Guys and Dolls with a Sat mat of N2N. Gosh, I miss they days when a "crowd" was like 10 people. In fact, the only time I've had barricades was with Ricky Martin in Les Miz (still only had about 20 people though)...
How many at a stage door? Apr 29

So, I'm seeing 8 shows next week and plan on stage door-ing 6 of them. The last time I've done that was when I was a teen back in the late 90s. Frankly, I already know I'm going to feel odd because of my age, but there are some people I just have to meet (Angela Lansbury, anyone :)). I know meeting cast members has become a lot more popular in recent years and I'm wondering what size crowds to expect. I'm seeing 9 to 5, Blithe Spirit, Mermaid, Guys and Dolls, Next to Normal, and Shrek. Has anyon

Ok, as far as u/s-es go, I know Ernst and Georg have been out and I THINK Hanshen has been out as well. For the females, Remy missed a show, Krysta has gone on as Ilse, and Pheobe went on as Ilse with Jen covering Anna.
About the nudity clause, I'm not sure I believe it 100% but when reading the interview BWW had with Lea, she mentioned she didn't mind the nudity because she was comfortable with Johnathan. Maybe she isn't as comfortable with an understudy feeling her up.

Ok, so sue me- I love this show! I'm sure it has to do more with the fact that I love, love the book and the Winonna Ryder movie, plus I'm a huge Sutton fan, so this cast recording is constantly on. I saw the national tour but it was before I was really a fan and I didn't pick up anything from it. Now I'm kicking myself. Does anyone know of a site where I could find a color brochure from the show? Or, better yet, does anyone have one that they would like to trade/sell? Actually, any Little Woman

The personalized notes I have gotten from Sutton Foster (back in her Les Miz days), Ashley Brown, and Mara Davi. I also love my 8x10s of Natalie Toro and Andrea Rivette with personal notes to me on them. And all my recordings. Don't know what I'd do without those.

I, too, though Charlotte was wondering in Chicago. She was great in Sweet Charity too. She's a phenominal dancer and while some may disagree, I like her acting choices for the most part (I do think her Cassie is something to be seen. I liked her much more live than on the CD). But is she my favorite Cassie? No. For some reason, I love the current company. Do I think think they're particularly strong singers? Well, they beat the OBC. Their dancing is pehnominal (except for Ken Alan who just s

Anyone ever get anything back from Lauren Kennedy? I wrote to her both online and snail mail while she was in Spamalot and nothing. Recently, however, I have heard from Ashley Brown (who sent a bunch of stuff- so sweet), Mara Davi (another sweetie), and autogprahed plabills from the casts of Beauty, A Chorus Line, Drowsy, and Phantom. Still waiting to hear from Wicked, Les Miz, Kristin Chenoweth, Jodi Benson, and Sutton Foster. I've also been meaning to right Jon Groff, Jon Gallagher, Lea M

That makes sence. Thanks ACL. I hope she does get to play Cassie. I haven't seen the production myself, but from press reel clips and such I can see she's a great dancer.

Neverandy, would you be at liberty to mention some of the types there were looking for in the calls. For one, is Flouder going to be played by a child? What age ranges are they looking at?

I too am in love with this show. Not to crazy about the book and some of the lyrics do nothing for me (so "artsy"- they sound pretty but sometimes the have no point) however the music- WOW! I'm deffinitley a fan.

I figured if anyone knew it would be someone here. Has Jessica Lee Goldyn ever gone on as Cassie yet? I heard from one person she was the first cover and another that she was the second. I know Nadine has been on, I'm just curious about Jessica.
