Wicked Movie Seeks New Director  Oct 21 2020, 03:58:46 PM
If not Daldry then surely Bill Condon should be the next choice. If he's able to pull off another Jennifer Hudson moment with Defying Gravity then I'd be for it.

My second choice is Rob Marshall his version of Into the Woods was a very stylish and good adaption in my opinion.

MATILDA movie musical confirmed.  Jan 18 2020, 04:28:01 AM
If they could make Imelda Staunton look tall then she could play the role and she can sing too.

Vanessa Hudgens Wicked?  Jan 29 2019, 08:51:29 AM
Vanessa is growing into a great performer, the only issue I have is that she has a tad too much nasality in her voice when she is sustaining longer notes that she seems to have developed from an early age when singing. There is strength but her technique needs some fine tuning, she is very talented though.

Her voice in my opinion was stronger and more suited to Rizzo than Maureen, I think Chicago would be a good fit for her and I expect its going to be lined up as a future live TV musi

Disney to Remake The Little Mermaid  Mar 21 2017, 10:50:12 AM

Word on the grapevine is that they are looking at doing the same thing they did with Emma Watson on Beauty and the Beast. She was originally attatched to Warner Bros Beauty and the Beast and left to join Disney's.

Chloe Moretz is currently being rumored to join this one as Ariel.

Audra enchanted me, I dunno if it was her characters look or her screen presence but she was so drawing and captivating. The musical numbers where all quite dull to be honest. Where was this amazing choreography we heard about for Be Our Guest, that was very small scale considering the hype. I liked Belle, Gaston and the Mob Song they were staged well and energetic.

Unfortunately every new song they added to the film were staged terribly and added absolutely nothing to the plot. T

Beauty and the Beast  Mar 9 2017, 07:55:49 PM

I feel like Emma's weakest moments are singing lower notes, when she sings her higher notes she seems to sing surprisingly strong I am theorizing her voice is suited to more soprano than Mezzo. She sounds lovely though I wouldn't mind hearing her sing in other musicals preferably without the reverb.

Beauty and the Beast  Jan 11 2017, 09:59:30 AM

I'm pretty sure that isn't Ariana and John singing. The credit song they're singing isn't Beauty and the Beast. They're singing Our song lives on the new song written for the film. This was confirmed ages ago in the E! Magazine article.

Aladdin - Live Action Remake  Jan 8 2017, 11:04:24 AM

I thought they'd of went with Zayn Malik or someone younger. cheeky

Beauty and the Beast  Dec 31 2016, 04:19:38 PM

Does anyone else think this clip didn't sound like a final sound mixing. I don't know what it was but it seems like the tracks weren't final or polished. I noticed during the promotion for Les Miserable they had a similar sound in terms of promotion like the music track was overly low compared to the vocal one.

Beauty and the Beast  Dec 29 2016, 09:37:49 PM

Kind of reminds me of Emily Blunt's singing voice in Into the Woods. She sounds good but I don't like that she doesn't carry out the "see" at the end.

Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda CONFIRMED for  Dec 19 2016, 09:03:43 PM

Dick Van Dyke confirmed he'll be cameoing as the Old Banker, also Julie Andrew is also going to cameo and he also spilled that Angela Lansbury will be in it.

10 Best Movie Adaptations of Musicals  Dec 10 2016, 06:04:18 PM

Chicago, Oliver! and Little Shop are great examples. I feel like Wicked is going to be something special just because they've worked on it for so long. Then again I thought that about Les Miserables and didn't like it much.

La La Land  Dec 8 2016, 11:23:54 PM

I think this will be a similar Oscars season to when Chicago released and it has a real shot of some major musical film nominations, my only problem in the film is that it's a musical but Emma Stone can't really sing, her voice is far too breathy and light for musical theatre and jazz, I guess it fits in terms of the film but she has this high airy voice most of the time (aside from the audition scene where she is surprisingly strong in its midsection and this is perhaps crucial to the plot)

Warner Bros Moves Forward with Little Shop Remake  Dec 7 2016, 11:42:40 PM

After watching Hairspray I think Jennifer Hudson for Audrey II would be amazing. :)

The films already a classic they might aswell revision it.

that production blew my mind with how fantastic the live camera work was. yes a little joyless but still a very good production (plus Julian Ovenden singing anything is a joy)

Next NBC Live Musical  Dec 7 2016, 11:11:01 PM

The time feels right for West Side Story Live. I just think it would dazzle on TV and it's one f those classics that people will tune in for.

As for Fox I assumed their Dirty Dancing remake had a musical element. If Rocky Horror was their standard I'd be happy never to see them produce another musical, these expections of course weren't live, Grease was phenomenal...

Warner Bros Moves Forward with Little Shop Remake  Dec 7 2016, 11:06:16 PM

I think Little shop is good for opening itself up to Star names because the singing range doesn't have to be as spectacular as most shows aside from the Urchins. I can literally think of any number of actresses who could play Audrey. Kristen Bell would be great, Christopher Walken could actually for for Mushnik too.

I think for Bye, bye birdie they should use The Wiz approach without the running to different locations and just have changing stage sets but add a live audience so we get genuine reaction, good camera work and the performers can preserve their energy. Not that this wasn't heaps of fun but it wasn't without its flaws either.

I'm pretty impressed with Dove apparently she only attended a handful of rehearsals because she was filming something else. She's doing great.
