Although I'm upset I won't get to see Buckley, I'm over the moon that I'll get to see Carolee play Dolly in Philadelphia! February 2020 can't get here soon enough!
Jean, for us plebeians who never took theater classes 20 years ago in college, please provide the meaning of the word "mugging" and provide examples of Metcalf mugging.
Also, you spelled Bette Davis' name wrong, so how can anyone take you seriously?
The Tony must go to Metcalf, not Jackson. At least people aren't snoring through Hillary and Clinton.

Maybe it's because I love Hillary, maybe it's because I love Laurie, but great God did I love Hillary and Clinton. It was an Albee-esque firecracker of play with delicious quips and poignant moments. I laughed through the whole evening yet cried myself to sleep, thinking about another universe I'd rather live in than the one we live in now. And I absolutely loved the framing device of a coin flip.
I went in expecting to be yet again awed by the great Laurie Metcalf, and I was, but I wa

I went with a friend who knew nothing about the play and she was thoroughly compelled by this easily accessible production. As far as student rush, that I don't know. Check their website.

I'm thrilled this will be coming through Philly. I love Buckley but I don't care who plays Dolly. The show is just so fun even without a star lead, although I'm crossing my fingers for Carolee Carmello.

I just wanted to post that the Lantern Theatre in Philadelphia is performing a thrilling production of Shakespeare's rarely performed, yet eerily prescient and timely Measure For Measure. If you're in Philly, go and enjoy this thought provoking comedy. The show runs til April 21. www.lanterntheater.org
JSquared2, so what? Assassins is based on true stories. They were real people, and they are telling real stories about these people. There's no reason that Booth or Czolgosz should be played by a middle aged men when they were really still young, and I think youth has a LOT to do with why they did what they did.
EVITA is not a documentary, but I don't want to see a menopausal woman playing someone who died at 33.
Camelot will always have a special place in my heart. I played Mordred years ago (perhaps the most underwritten principle character in musical theater history), and have always loved the score. The book SUCKS. Well, it can suck if directed poorly. This show needs more fantasy and magic and less soap opera. I'd love for this to be recorded, since there's never been a full recording of the score.
As much as I am exhausted with Miranda, I don't think he's a bad choice for
