This is false. Every single film in both the The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies had their effects finished either the night before or the day of their World Premieres.
Some of this list is going to be based solely on soundtracks, and said entries will be tagged accordingly (also, these are not in any particular order): * American Idiot (soundtrack-based selection)
* Newsies
* Come From Away
* Annie 2012 Revival (soundtrack-based selection)
* Waitress
* Chaplin (soundtrack-based selection)
* Aladdin
* Hedwig and the Angry Inch Broadway Version (soundtrack-based selection)

I'm an interesting case when it comes to being a fan of Lin-Manuel Miranda's work because I fell in love with In the Heights pretty much from the moment I first heard the music but can't stand the music for Hamilton, so of his two big productions, ItH is the one that I wish he got more recognition for.
Given my love for the show, though, seeing it come to life on the movie screen is

I went back and checked, and you're right; Rosario (and Adam) recorded it for the film, but it was used as a montage overlay and so I'd forgotten about it being there.

The evaluation of talent is totally subjective, and I don't personally care for Daphne Rubin-Vega as a singer and think she's horrible, especially in relation to the rest of the RENT OBC.
I also don't like many of the "featured players" in the RENT OBC Ensemble.
Others's mileage may vary, and that's okay.
Shifting things to a different topic, let's talk about Favorite Songs from the FOX production.
Mine are "Light My Candle" (because it's voy favorite song fro

I disagree.
She's the primary reason I struggled with the show as presented onstage long-form prior to last week and the release/broadcast of RENT Live.

It was actually the film soundtrack that made me fall in LOVE with Mimi's songs [and they are now my favorite from the show]. I've gone to watch clips of the OBC Mimi and... it's pretty ear-bleeding."
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who recognizes this.
Light My Candle became my favorite song from the show when

Having had a chance to listen to some of the songs from the show again, I feel comfortable saying that, while not quite as perfect as the pairing of Adam Pascal and Rosario Dawson, Brennin Hunt and Tinashe make for a very good pair as Roger and Mini and are head and shoulders above the pairing of Adam Pascal and the actress who originated the role of Mimi on Broadway.

I'm just not seeing it.

I would argue that FOX had a fiduciary duty to the estate of Jonathan Larson to protect the brand of RENT, to protect the brand of the actors it hires and to protect its own brand. It could have done so by hiring understudies who

That's a matter of opinion.
FOX made the decision they made, and it's not anyone's place to say what they * should * have done.
Still haven't read the entire thread, but I'm getting the feeling just from the last two pages of comments that at least 3/4 of the comments are going to be stupid.
Crap happens; FOX made the best of a bad situation that was beyond their control.
Regarding understudies, what legitimate and practical reason is there to put people on "standby" for what is supposed to be a one-night event for everyone other than those who were actually attending said event
As an addendum to my earlier post, I've chosen to view what FOX gave us with Rent: LIVE as a 'dress rehearsal' for later this year when I get the opportunity to see the show on stage in person, so it's actually a good thing that I enjoyed the show in its long-form presentation as shown on FOX because it bodes well for what I'll get to experience in June.
The only thing I'm kind of worried about is that the cast I'll get to see in June isn't going to live

In terms of the cast, I thought they all did well and worked both individually and as a group, even though Vanessa Hudgens strikes me as being more of a Mimi than a Maureen.
