Water by the Spoonful wins the 2012 Pulitzer for Drama  Apr 16 2012, 11:56:34 PM
I actually worked on/saw this production. It's an excellent show, but it really struggled finding an audience up here. Though the critics and the audience that it did find really loved it!

The description on the Pulitzer website makes it sound dreadfully boring though...yes, it focuses a lot on Elliot struggling with being home from Iraq and demons that followed him, but it's also about his relationship with his mother. She is a recovering addict who moderates a chatroom for other recov

Advice on selling Playbills?  Jul 24 2011, 02:50:50 PM
Also, there are probably close to 100 Showbills from the Met Opera and Radio City (Christmas, Bette Midler, Liza, etc.) from the 90's. I can't find any on eBay...is there market for these?

Advice on selling Playbills?  Jul 24 2011, 01:15:50 PM
My boss has a few boxes of Playbills that he wants me to sell on eBay. They're all from the 80's and 90's and generally in good condition. Should I group them into lots or sell them individually? Will anybody actually want a mint condition Starlight Express Playbill?

Which Broadway Show Will Have The First Gay Marriage Proposal At Their Curtain Call?  Jun 25 2011, 02:03:25 AM
While there may not be any proposals after the Normal Heart, tonight immediately after the curtain call one of the producers came out on to the stage to tell the audience that the bill had passed. And the audience began cheering again and the cast came back out to celebrate - it was fantastic.

I'm thinking Anything Goes for the first proposal.

Intermission during COMPANY screening?  Jun 15 2011, 10:59:25 PM
I saw it tonight as well.

My theater only had a 10 second "intermission", and a staff member came in and announced before it started that it was all there was going to be. There was a section of people who clapped after every song enthusiastically, and there were a few moments where most of the audience clapped (Getting Married Today, Ladies Who Lunch, Being Alive...) The house was nearly full, but I am in a pretty artsy and affluent area at the moment, and I think my friends and I we

Did the Tony Awards also cause Bret's appendectomy?  Mar 26 2011, 01:50:38 PM
Ok, I do think that it is ridiculous that he's suing nearly 2 years later and I'm not convinced at all that the injury had anything to do with the subsequent health problems.

However, if he really wasn't made aware of the flying scenery then I really do think that someone from the Tony Awards was responsible for the injury. If he didn't rehearse with the flying elements someone from stage management should have talked him through what was going on, especially since he and the rest of th

Open Jar Institute  Mar 22 2011, 12:18:02 AM
Just scanned through some of my cousin's pictures and it seems like he took a handful of classes with legit Broadway performers, but it's chorus boys, not Patti LuPone. Not that that's a bad thing at all - learning about the biz from them is probably better than learning from starts anyway, but don't expect Tony winners.

Open Jar Institute  Mar 21 2011, 11:36:59 PM
My cousin did it a few years ago and seemed to really enjoy himself. He took some good classes, saw a few shows and made some friends. I think it cost something like $1500 though, which I thought seemed a bit steep for 4 days. However, he paid for it with a scholarship from a local newspaper, so he wasn't complaining about the price.

If you have any specific questions though I can ask him. Unless there's someone else on the board involved with the program?

A Little Night Music Set Question  Jan 30 2011, 12:27:23 PM

All right, bets on how long the first preview is going to be? 3 hours? 4 hours? 5 hours?
