Interesting, I had the opposite effect. I think the humor made the characters relatable and humanized them to help the audience really understand and care about them in the begi

Wrong.
Anyway in my opinion "Answer Me" is the single best song/moment/scene of any musical of this season. To me, it is the perfect emotional climax and it was written beautifully with the crescendo leading up to "Only You", which in my opinion basically encapsulates the entire message of the show in 2 words. I don't think I'll ever forget the amount of chills I got

Part of the whole beauty of art and entertainment is that it's not just what the creator (and in stage, also other factors such as the performers and everyone involved with the production) puts into, but also what each individual takes from it. Every audience member can react differently and the mixing of their own views, value

I'm not trying to start a fight. And I absolutely am all for substantive discussion about this awesome piece. I'm just rubbed the wrong way when someone tells someone else they misinterpreted the show. It A) it shuts down the validity of t

And how do you know the exact, intended interpretation they were going for? Were you in the rehearsal room? I don't think we are supposed to know the artists intention. That's the point/beauty of art. Sometimes the intention does universally get across, but for the most part it doesn&
GeorgeandDot said: "Poison, I think you misinterpreted the show. It's a show about the importance of human connections. Dina hooks up with Haled because she's just desperate for human contact. It's part of the tragedy of her part.
Ok but that is your interpretation. There is no such thing as "misinterpreting" art.
After seeing The Band's Visit performance on the today show, I don't think Answer Me works in telecasts and outside of context. And also I hope they don't do it because the entire show leads up to that emotional climax and I feel like it would take something away from someone seeing it for the first time. My vote would be for Katrina singing Omar Sharif with a stand mic and a fog machine.

100% Row Q, I would avoid first 5 rows for this show
@AntV You know they yelled out that it was $1 so I just took it and stuck it in my bag just assuming it was a program but it seems to be like a press book thing with photos and interviews and stuff. And yes, it was the seed planter (they threw it in for free when I bought the DRS gift).
They had Bette signed playbills for $250 and Full cast playbills for 500. They also had some random Midler pics from various projects that were signed.
