I need to step in here and defend Hogan (though not completely, regarding workers comp) .... This accident is truly awful and no one is saying that they should not be cared for 100%. But - the fact of the matter is, it was 100% a workplace accident - and worker’s comp is NOT a joke, they are REQUIRED to cover 100% of ANY claims related to the accident. The union will deal with further compensation for lost wages, etc. Any type of knee-jerk “gofundme” campaign or similar, at
Tateh said: "Definitely Ruthie Ann Miles over Judy Kuhn...."
i wouldnt call this an “upset” but I personally found it to be one of the most ridiculous in recent history. Kuhn was stunning at the Public, and even deeper and more heartbreaking on Broadway. I think the Fun Home producers made a mistake by emphasizing Sydney Lucas all over town, and this squandered Kuhn winning for what was one of my favorite performances I’ve ever seen.
2019 Tony Awards Performances Jun 8

Sometimes solos are better. They certainly televise better. Medleys are almost always disastrous. My top 3 favorite Tony performances of the last decade were solos: - Ring of Keys (Fun Home) - Omar sharif (band’s visit) - whatever that Lisa Howard song is called from Shoulda Been You (that was a GREAT performance from a show with no noms at all)

I still see Beth Leavel winning. I think it’s a tossup for sure, but only because none of them are really phenomenal roles to begin with, and in any other year these nominees would’ve been toward the bottom.
Can Kiss Me Kate Upset Oklahoma! for Best Revival Of A Musical? Jun 5

I personally found the choreography of KMK to be like a lowest common denominator form of choreography in which we make an amazing energetic ensemble of dancers do stupid **** that has nothing to do with the song in order to wow the crowd and get the choreographer a tony. And the complete mistrust of Porter’s lyrics (resulting in the impulse to physically indicate the joke of Tom Dick or Harry is like the lowest of the low in terms of creativity and grasp of material).
Alice Ripley As Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard" Jun 4

I have no opinion about Ripley in the role. But I have ZERO interest in seeing this purported film with Close in it. The only person I want to see in a film version at this point is LAURA DERN.
FYC Idea for Fosse/Verdon: Michelle Williams as Roxie? Jun 4

I’m certain the Weissler’s have asked. And I’m certain she has enough respect for her own career to say “no I’m not replacing Christie Brinkley as the 743rd replacement just because I did a couple scenes from it on tv”. Chicago is a last stop for a lot of these names. The Weissler’s exploit the downturn of a celebrity’s name and career. Michelle Williams is in no way having some kind slump.

I see NO WAY Amber Gray does not win. I actually fine this to be the weakest category .... and she’s the only one I would’ve even nominated .... As opposed to a season like the Fun Home/King and I season where any of them could have won and it would have been warranted (though I will never ever get over Judy Kuhn not winning, as I thought her performance was just stunning and having seen Fun Home twice at the public and 4 times on broadway, she was the best thing about it every time).

This is a year in which the category should have been eliminated. There is nothing about KMK to warrant an award for Revival, as it is a mediocre staging of a very dated show with great songs. And the editing of Shakespeare at the end should immediately have taken it out of the running. Oklahoma could have easily been nominated in its current production amongst the plays. It will only win the category because KMK is just fine, nothing different.

Hey guys — did you know that you have the option to NOT click on the post if it’s not something you feel like reading??? And as someone who only randomly comes on here to actually post anything, I will never understand why people get SO upset about a new thread ..... Personally I find it annoying to have to see months-old subject lines reappear with posts from 2013 I need to scroll through. I’d PREFER a fresh thread usually. And as for their “status”, I’m confused..... Until you said t

For me it doesn’t matter when it takes place or was written. I saw all three major productions (original with Bates, the Mantello Falco/Tucci version at the belasco, and now this).... and it is so atrociously staged and the tone is so poorly directed that none of that even matters. The beautiful moving thing about the Mantello production was that you really truly saw TWO lost souls connecting by their loneliness and perceived ordinariness - you were not siding with one or the other in their bac

Saw this last week and gotta say, I thought it was one of the most poorly-directed plays I’ve seen on bway. It was very lazy staging, moving them around the VERY UGLY and unhelpful set just for the sake of moving them around. I would love to see these two actors do a (shortened) version of this play, but with a real director. Clearly they are both at the top of their craft but seem to have had zero help and are hampered by the set and poor staging, bad lighting, and an overall misfire

Ummm .... I’m sorry, but after reading this ... am I the only one who feels like it is sort of karma for A) not replying to a letter seeking employment (a major pet peeve of mine - it’s not hard to have an assistant send a form letter of regret if there are no positions open), and B) allowing someone to work for you FOR FREE and then agreeing to accept an annuity from their aunt whom you’ve never met? She sounds just as exploitative as he does.
