Divas Simply Singing?  Dec 5 2020, 11:34:36 PM

Now Brian Stokes-Mitchell is singing.

Divas Simply Singing?  Dec 5 2020, 11:29:57 PM

She sang one song around 11 EST but I can't remember what the song was. I wouldn't have recognized her but she did well. The video feed won't let me rewind to check but I'm still hoping they'll archive the whole show.

Divas Simply Singing?  Dec 5 2020, 10:42:07 PM

Finally found it. It's at https://ktla.com/on-air/live-streaming/?fbclid=IwAR3lVAy7KGKLtB3nbXvWlgRo4weUy0zu7k1OzolW53qn8m2xc5uLbGxuoQM in case anyone else wants to watch it.

Performers include Leslie Odom and Stephanie Mills among others.

Divas Simply Singing?  Dec 5 2020, 10:31:47 PM

Anyone else trying to watch Divas Simply Singing livestream tonight? I'm on the site but when I press on the red watch button the page only seems to have the video for the red carpet pre-show and I can't see where the main livestream is.

Thanksgiving Day g vv ..mm v2020 - Broadway Plans  Nov 26 2020, 11:26:50 AM

I caught the two show performances on CBS All Access but it seems like the NBC streaming version on Verizon's page on youtube is not showing the Broadway shows or musical performances which was my whole reason for watching the parade. I guess it's too late to ask if there's another way to stream the NBC performances so I'm glad they have clips here.

Bathroom Theatre  Oct 20 2020, 11:06:19 AM

One treat I discovered through Time Out newsletter is Todd Buonopane's Bathroom Theatre:

It's the sort of thing you'd think would go viral yet most songs only have a few views.

Scott Siegel American Songbook  Oct 15 2020, 08:05:54 PM

I haven't seen this mentioned on here but one cool venue for Broadway performers to get paid for singing has been Scott Siegel's Great American Songbook Concert series. Free for viewers on youtube, though you can pick up a producer credit by contributing any amount. Here's the latest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBTttZAmSBo

Miscast  Sep 20 2020, 01:21:00 PM

They raised over $60,000 for the full show--I'm assuming the $2500 is a stretch goal for the clips. But give anyway--it was worth it.

Miscast  Sep 17 2020, 04:45:55 PM

I watched it a few more times just now. The opening number by Hairspray had so many cool little details like Marissa applying her hairspray and Corey Reynolds with some random delivery-looking person in boxing gloves running back and forth through his background. And I loved the ASL arrangement of "You Will Be Found". I have never been able to attend in-person so I'm so glad they did it online this year.

HELP - Showtunes about Weddings/Marriage  Sep 8 2020, 07:44:39 PM

I think there was one in Fidder on the Roof as well--Lin Manuel did this whole flash mob at his wedding with it.

Seth Rudetsky’s “Stars In The House” Concerts  Sep 8 2020, 07:17:56 PM

Debating whether to attend Seth's show with Karen Olivo tonight. Are all of them on demand afterwards? How long does concert normally last?

Samantha Barks / First Date  Sep 3 2020, 08:30:48 PM

I saw this is in a regional production and thought it was fun with some of my favorite songs from a musical. Happy to see this put on.

Anyone got a clue about #WhatsInTheSoup actually is?  Aug 20 2020, 12:03:38 AM

Just finished watching the last 3 episodes. It was cooler than I expected since I liked several of the songs though the plot is pretty cheesy. I guess one couple in play is also a couple in real life since they were kissing in the same room.  I started a Wikipedia article about it but wasn't sure whether to label it as theatre or film for the actor's wiki pages. Apparently Miguel Cervantes is the only actor from there not to have a Wikipedia entry.

#Whilewebreathe  Jul 30 2020, 12:34:53 AM

I didn't see anyone post about #Whilewebreathe event this evening but it was really strong. Most pieces were very heartfelt but it started off with a comic piece about a serial killer who had read "White Fragility" which is still making me giggle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-g_bIlr5x8

Reminder - Christina Bianco Livestream Concert Today 3pm  Jul 26 2020, 11:45:47 AM

Watching it now since it'll be on youtube through the end of today at least. Didn't realize she was with Forbidden Broadway. So much fun.

The Muppets HAMILTON  Jul 24 2020, 11:42:53 PM

QueenAlice said: "I must admit, I was initially skeptical of Camilla the Chicken taking on the challenging role of Angelica Schuyler, but boy does she deliver."

That just made me realize how few female Muppets there are when Camilla plays the second most important female part.

Alternately made me cringe and laugh.

Bull in a China Shop  Jul 24 2020, 11:19:19 PM

Well I do agree the F-word was out of place in a period piece but my regional theatre, Vanilla Box Productions just had a virtual livestream production and as a Bryn Mawr alumna I did appreciate the plot about women's education and relationships at turn of the century. Last show is tomorrow, 7/25/20 at 7:30 EDT and at $5 for a 75 minute show I'd say it's worth it. https://www.vanillaboxproductions.com/bull-i

The admiration is abundant in what they are doing and money raised and my related question is---those two can't possibly know all their guests so who approaches who to appear, who organises the set ups and who does all the research. There must be quite a team behind the 2 guys suggesting ideas/groupings etc.

I get the impression that Seth is old buddies with all the big Broadway people from his experience in the biz as well as his
