updating this thread! I was looking for recent updates and I couldn't find any. so today (6/19) my friend and I got to the music box at 8:20 and we were the first in line until around 9. once the doors opened, there were only two standing room tickets each for the matinee and the evening. I bought the two for the matinee, but I needed four. the lady at the box office said to wait in the back of the lobby by the wall until 11. at 11 she would let us know if there were any unclaim
saw hannah corneau yesterday at the wednesday matinee and i thought she was an incredible elphaba. she added another dimension to the character, somewhat like a softer side which i thought was refreshing. her no good deed was absolutely incredible, she performed some riffs that i've never heard before! she and ginna claire mason have great chemistry.
i've had several occasions where an actor has initiated a hug! christy altomare has initiated millions of hugs. and even some actors at mean girls have initiated hugs with me! i think it depends on the actor. and asking for one beforehand definitely helps, but going in for a hug WITHOUT asking is highkey gross.
surprised by all the mean girls comments. i've seen the show about six times and i've never had a problem, sure the crowd can get a little pushy, but nothing i haven't seen before. and every single actor i've met at the august wilson has been nothing but kind!
i think we can all agree that christy altomare is the queen of stagedooring. i saw the show three days before closing and the crowd was INSANE. she literally talked to every single person and cried with
mean girls !! danielle wade who just joined the cast was equally if not even better than erika. she looks like and actual high school student and her vocals just..wow unbelievable. when i saw her, i did not expect her cady to be that incredible because erika is so good, but damn if you have the chance go and see her !! also, ashley de la rosa is an amazing regina, she is the best understudy for the role. she completely knocks the persona and vocals out of the park, no doubt. the und
i rushed wednesday jan 16 (pink wednesday). arrived at the theatre around 7:20am and was the third person in line. the first lady in line got there at 5am. the line started getting long around 8-9am. the people in front of me bought two tickets each, so i got the 6th ticket available. the first lady in line had orchestra row A seat 3 but partial view, on the far left side of the stage. i purchased pink rush tix bc they were cheaper and they honestly dont care if you wear pink or not
saw the show on 12/12 the day Cody came back and his voice seemed a little weak idk if that's how it always sounds and his voice majorly cracked during the last high note of my Petersburg. he came out to stage door for about 2 minutes then he told us he was coming back out because the stage manager wanted to speak to him, but he never came back. who knows what happened back there. but from my knowledge the u/s Colby has been on.
rushed on Wednesday 12/12 got there at 7:50, second person in line. the next person came around 8:20. standard $42 ticket, right mezzanine row c seat 26. great rush seat! the seats next to me were empty so I moved over since part of the stage was blocked, but not as bad as box seats.
super late I know you already saw the show, but this is for anyone who's thinking of stagedooring for mean girls in the future. I have seen the show three times and I have never had a problem with pushing or rude people. all the cast members really take their time with you. when they come and and sign my playbill I always ask 'can I tell you something real quick' and I really do make it real quick. treat them with respect and they'll be so grateful. remember they'
this is so true!! lyrica was the only ensemble member to come out both times i saw the show. she's so sweet and bubbly like christy. zach isn't as much upfront, but if you engage in a conversation with him rather than straight up asking for a picture he's really sweet.
usually you can check their instagram or twitter to see if they're in the city, but some days they won't post. it's honestly luck. i saw the show oct 11 and the whole cast except ashley park was there, saw the show again oct 20 and the whole cast except kyle selig was there. i see the appeal and want to see the original cast, but the understudies are incredibly talented. ashley de la rosa as gretchen was so so good, almost better than ashley park
