How did Matilda compare to a disney musical?  Jun 18 2018, 11:05:40 PM

see my point. Because something is written for children. Does not mean it has to be bland or just sugar. It can actually be well written. I love Matilda to death. The music by tim minchin was superior on every level.to not just disney musicals but to many tony winning musicals  i just hate it when people say its for kids its supposed to simplistic.

ps it is interesting that mary Poppins was not from a cartoon and is the best Disney musical

RENEE ZELLWEGER IN A "CABARET" REMAKE?  Jun 11 2018, 07:52:47 PM

BrodyFosse123 said: "CZJ on Broadway doing it

WTF? Sally Bowles is young woman with allusions and misdirection. Catherine Zeta-Jones is pushing 50. She’d be perfect for Fraulein Kost or a middle-aged Fraulein Schneider.

People, the film version of CHICAGO was released in 2002 — 16 years ago! The actresses in this film are almost 50 years old. They are nowage-appropriate for Norma Desmond in SUNSET BLVD (who is 50!).

THE OFFICIAL 2018 TONY AWARDS VIEWING THREAD  Jun 11 2018, 02:17:38 AM

Can we please talk about the Tonys rather than feeding some troll?

Dear richsmo  Jun 11 2018, 02:16:31 AM

Hi I am disabled . I was told that I cannot do a lot of things . Or at least seen to do a lot of things. But you know something other kids could do these things and were praised by their peers for doing it. I was told I should not do cooking, I was told I should not get a job , I was told I needed to get the job by some other people as well.

My point is telling ANYONE for any reason not to show there love for someone should be a  crime.  Its like saying to someone oh yo

What is the Fate of SPONGEBOB?  Jun 11 2018, 12:39:43 AM

I think families will decide on Harry Potter and Cursed Child over Frozen. If those money cannot that reviews did not help. The name recognition and Tony Awards will. I know some are hardcore fans . But if you have a family of 'mixed preferences' Harry Potter wins. It will last a decade. While Frozen will freeze by NYE leaving the theatre for Moulin Rouge or Hadlestown !

Band's Visit not worth 9 Tonys  Jun 11 2018, 12:32:03 AM

BroadwayMan5 said: "Haven't seen the show yet (seeing it this summer) so I can't really say my opinion on if it deserved it or not but I do get tired of these "sweep" nights. I also wish some really strong shows like Groundhog Day, Come From Away, and Waitress had opened in a year like this instead of in the Hamilton/Dear Evan Hansen/Hello Dolly juggernaut years"

Isn't it amazing that a musical with an original idea like Hamilton i

JayElle said: "The NY Times article said voters were voting "against the commercialism" of the other musicals. It showed. Show was okay, but not great."

And the irony is that the best play went to the most commercial of the lot. Just like in theme park ville. Universal is winning and Disney is loosing
