Just curious, how did your school manage to get the rights to Wicked? :) i know it’s very limited.
Wicked Casting for 2018-2019 Jul 9
2018, 01:33:36 PM
Just a quick thought, I know Jessica Vosk is our next Elphie. I thought Wicked contracts were for 9 months to a year exclusively with no chance to extend. But I have not heard any casting for the other Principals. Does anyone have an idea about if they will be replaced, and if so, who?

I have to agree that I think it captures the essence of the show. Hopefully it has nothing to do with financial difficulties, as this usually is one of the first signs that a show needs all the money it gets :).
The Band’s Visit Playbill Change Jun 30
2018, 01:19:49 AM
As of today, The Band’s Visit has changed their original playbill with color featuring the orchestra band and Katrina, to a black and white playbill with just the hands of Tewfiq and Dina and the title of the musical.
I personally think they have changed it so new replacements can come in and wouldn’t need to change the playbill at all. I liked their original color scheme though.

Would Paula Deen have stopped using the n-word after 9/11? Would I have taken the role of Marvin in Falsettos in Houston instead of originating a role in an original flop musical in 1997? Would the world have ever acknowledged the hideous ridiculousness of skinny fit clothing? Thoughts."

Would Donald Trump have been killed in a car accident before he pretended to write a terrible book and become infamous for being a pathological liar? Would Judy Garland have survived the 60s? Would there be no kale bandwagon on which to jump with smug authority?"
Unnecessary man we get it lol.
What if BANDSTAND opened this awards season? Jun 26
2018, 01:57:38 AM
Just saw the Fathom Event’s presentation of BANDSTAND and my goodness was it a good show. I feel as if Bandstand has opened this season, things could have been different. A completely new musical is what we missed out on this season besides Margaritaville and Prince of Broadway. I feel like the Tonys would have been different as well.
Thoughts? :)
Cultural Appropriation/Whitewashing Jun 17

when non latinos, including african Americans, portray the principals in “In The Heights” excluding Benny. Is this then cultural appropriation?

Will we ever see someone cast as the Genie either as the Principal or a Standby that doesn’t fit with the tradition of how they have cast the role? Or maybe even see a female take over!
I thought because the Genie is a mythical being, with no gender or sexual orientation, so maybe anyone can be cast in the role.
Thoughts? :)
Ariana Grande Wicked Jun 11
2018, 04:42:31 PM
Today, Ariana Grande tweeted “tell them how I’m defying gravity”
Is she trying to indicate any casting for Broadway, Tour or the Movie?
If it was for Broadway, I thought Jessica Vosk was the next Elphie.
It was just a lack of taste. I completely understand the reasoning behind it. But by him doing what he did, the first thing I woke up to was “DeNiro says ‘F*** Trump’ at Tony Awards”, instead of “The Band’s Visit and Harry Potter Win Big at this year’s Tony Awards!”

I personally wished more musicals were represented. Not taking anything away from The Band’s Visit, but my little heart wished everyone got Tonys <3
