Singing is, again, efficient. And those tight fitting skinny jeans on some of the men are a bit much. Fyedke's gymmed-out body is a bit distracting for the time period.
Guess this is being picky, but I couldn't warm up to much of this. The Yiddish angle is admirable, but I really missed the clever lines and poetry in the lyrics."
The gymmed-out body has become a major issue for Broadway
I find the Valentina/Doc switch to be most intriguing.
Having just seen a major regional houses' production of WSS, if Valentina is filling the same role as Doc, Tony's protector and the owner of the Drug Store where the Jets are allowed but the Sharks are not, the new angle of the scenes surrounding Anita's assault should be VERY compelling. Really excited to see how this movie ends up playing.
Since the Grosses were sponsored by The Book of Mormon, I looked a little closer at their grosses lately. Not that the show is in any imminent danger right now, obviously, but I noticed an interesting trend in their grosses year to year.
It is now more than halfway through 2019 and the only few weeks to expect higher-than-normal numbers are during the Nov/Dec holidays..
From 2017 to 2018 the show only lost about 2.75% of its Yearly Average Gross Potential, (this, after

This board's determination to **** on and completely shut down any legitimacy of Be More Chill as a show is baffling to me. There is zero need to fuel this fire, and continuously beat the show while it is down.
Why this board refuses to accept the younger audience and fanbase of Be More Chill, but act exactly as immaturely and ridi
Tegan Summer Productions tried to make the Marilyn Monroe musical at Paris work, and there may be some good material there, but a 90 minute fast forward through the life of Marilyn on the strip wasn't the place to spend the money.
I'd think something like Moulin Rouge would do well. I was also in the apparent minority that thought Spiderman could actually work as a LV sit down.. there is Family Vacation money being left on the table in Vegas...I personally don't under
Wow, If Moulin Rouge can keep those numbers up they are looking at starting their run at almost $2.5M per week in the grosses. Impressive it is happening this early on, even for such a well known brand.

Two reactions. First, an aspiration does not equate to a plan. Second, with the possible exception of a volunteerusher, "an ensemble member" is probably the worst source for anything (other than their next call time). I don't mean that disrespectfully, but do you seriously think that actual

Perhaps take it up with the original poster who said that then?
It would be so awful if Brennin Hunt, who broke his foot during Rent, moved his entire family from Nashville to NYC to do this show and it closed before he started. Man, I hope he at least gets a month or two in!"
The upper management and GMs that CSH brought in from NY to reopen the Curran were dreadful. The FOH teams had no support from their upper management. There was an AMAZING house manager there early on who was pushed out despite their fantastic customer service and attention to the issues the missed-opportunity renovation created.
Anyone who has been there recently, have they installed restroom/elevator direction signs, pointing patrons to the lower level (the only ADA o
It feels like too much to me. It is almost like the creators didn't trust in their material and felt like they needed to make the show more "FUN!" and "EXCITING!". I love most of the score and the book but the Choreography was just TOO MUCH. I can't wait to see what other director/choreographers do with the material when it hits the Regionals.
While I don't love CSH and what she did to the Curran post reno (auditorium is fine, the spray painted lobby walls are another..), I have infinitely less love for SHNSF. Between Hamilton, Wicked, Lion King and Aladdin, plus almost every other huge Broadway show, SHNSF is doing fine, will always do fine etc.
Healthy competition in this industry is always a good thing, and the initial separation agreement CSH made when she parted from SHNSF turned out to be disastrous n
If you look into Rob's social media a bit, it looks like it was for a family event, the type of which would be planned for up to a year in advance, so the planned absence was probably known by producers when they made the offer, especially with it occurring so close to the Tony Awards.
I agree with tja... a 2nd watch made me dislike it less (still my least fave of the night), but when you have a built in mega mix...JUST DO THAT! Especially if you are having the whole ensemble perform. If you were going to do a Jimmy Fallon-esque number and only showcase the 3 Cher's and Sonny, fine, but if you are having the entire ensemble join in...
I think a part of the problem in Portland, ME is the limits that Merrill Auditorium puts on the size of productions playing the venue. I seem to remember a smaller backstage area with a difficult load in situation posing logistical issues for moderate to large scale tours. I think the Portland Market could definitely handle week-long runs of A and B tours...IF they had a suitable venue to present them in.
To me it is a similar situation to somewhere like Birmingham, AL o
