I actually tweeted Rahm Emanuel today and suggested he school George about boys in ballet class since Emanuel was appearing on his show (not necessarily on air... in private would have been fine too) and a friend DM'ed me and suggested I listen again because George did say "good for him" but was sort of drowned out by the laughter.
For anyone who says "what does this have to do with Broadway?" I would just like to say if you have b
The doors open at around 30-40 minutes prior. When you enter you will just see some of the performers posed... and as the time goes on a few more go out. They don't do a whole lot more than just sort of pose and stare out to the audience, occasionally changing position.
MR was the dumbest show I've ever seen. Right now the leads are saving it but I have no idea how long their contracts are. I agree 100% with Sarah Holdren's review.
I completely agree with Sarah Holdren's review. This was the dumbest show I've ever seen, the leads do the best with what they have but the material is pitiful.
I guess this is going to finally be aired in the spring. After seeing his performance in "Vice" I am much more intrigued to see Rockwell's Fosse. I do know he has been training for about a year with a former Fosse dancer. I can't imagine we will see any substantial dancing from him, but it'll be all about the nuance anyway.
So I saw the Philip tour tonight again in Ft. Lauderdale and I had to jump on here and say WOW. Wonza Johnson as Hamilton was outstanding. I was so impressed. Ensemble must have partied a little too hard last night though because they looked tired and their energy isn't what it should be. Both Marcus Choi and Kyle Scatliffe were stronger than they were Saturday night... I may have caught them on an off night. And though Elijah Malcomb performed both times I've seen it here in Ft. Laud
I vote for listening to the soundtrack a few times beforehand. I've seen it 4X now and the articulation and diction can sometimes leave something to be desired, especially when someone has been doing the role for a while.
Saw the Philip cast last night. This makes my 4th time- twice with the OBC. Ta'rea Campbell (Angelica) was absolutely fantastic, as was Nyla Sostre (Peggy/Mariah Reynolds). Sadly I have to say that Marcus Choi was not a strong Washington at all. He was the only disappointment. He just doesn't have the vocals to pull off the role. The best Washington I've seen was Nicholas Christopher in NY. He blew the doors off the theater during One Last Time. Also, poor diction on the part of K
I notice they don't mention that it was anything official as there is no official statement. He could have called in sick- I don't think I'd feel like going to work tonight either if I were him .
I saw this show with 2 seasoned Broadway vets, and they both agreed they took all the sexiness out of the original choreography. It seemed very "Disney"... family friendly-ish. Even the Rum Tum Tugger choreography... we all remembered the female cats to be all over him. It's not your imagination. It's not sexy anymore and that was noticed, at least by me and my 2 friends, right at the beginning of the run.
Went Saturday night and while it wasn't a total loss (Ethan Slater was terrific, what they did to the Palace Theater was truly unexpected and quite effective, I felt like they really invested in the sound system in there too... very cool sound effects guy house left...Jai'len Christine Li Josey's voice is outstanding ...) my biggest issue with the show is that is just wasn't that funny. Others will disagree but I was pretty disappointed. (Jon Rua if you're reading thi

This makes absolute sense. How in the world was Michael Paulson supposed to check out everyon
I'm hoping that the delay is due to the reporter thoroughly checking sources and making sure this is responsible journalism and not a giant heap of libel. The reporter tweeted Friday afternoon inviting "theater folks" to report misconduct to him. It's going to take a minute to sort all of that out. My fear is not only the perpetually disgruntled using this as an opportunity to seek some sort of revenge against those they perceive to have wronged them at some point, but

Read the article below. 49 out of 2000 isn't exactly 'dominating''
Yep, he is very left leaning but, in my opinion, he just spoke the truth on that stage tonight.

Except for one thing- he said that Reagan "laid a wreath on the grave of a Nazi soldier". That struck me funny. I thought "how did something like that ever happen and I don't remember it?" Turns out Reagan visited a cemetery where there were thousand of German soldiers buried and 40 or so were Nazi soldiers,

I can't believe anyone would take up valuable intermission-restroom time (always a nightmare line!) checking their phone while on the toilet -- but I guess enough people do this that they need to make an announcement about it!!
