Jordan, yes, if it's very close (can't remember the exact cutoff) there can be 5 nominees. The last time that happened was 2016, when Hamilton, School of Rock, Bright Star, Shuffle Along, and Waitress were nominated.
As for the featured actor debate, I'm still putting my money on George Salazar. Michael is the showier role of the two and I bet anything they want to perform Michael in the Bathroom on the Tonys, being that it's the signature song.

Intermission report: I already know I like this show so I won’t comment on plot/characters/etc. but here are some thoughts:
George is back in as Michael and he sounds fine, but like he’s giving it 80% instead of 100. Don’t know if he’s conserving energy for Michael in the Bathroom or not. A little sad I missed Troy tbh, going off of the reports about how good he is. Jason Tam is really impressing me vocally but his Keanu impression is a little grating after a while. I like Loser Geek Wh
How's rush looking during the week? I'm hoping to rush the Wednesday matinee next week but I don't know what it'll look like, whether or not local schools are out, etc. (earliest I can get there is probably 9:30)
I would love to be underestimating this show because I really do like it, but I'd also be interested to see how the grosses hold up over the next couple of weeks.
When I heard they added Loser Geek Whatever as the Act I finale during the off-Broadway run last summer, I was surprised because a) Upgrade functions as a perfectly fine Act I closer, and b) the first act seems to run way too long anyway. If they've added another new song, does anyone know where in the show it is?
also, if George Salazar is on vocal rest, did anyone here see Troy as Michael either yesterday or today? How is he?
Previews for the Broadway premiere of Be More Chill begin this Wednesday (February 13, 2019) at the Lyceum Theatre. With music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz, Be More Chill is adapted from Ned Vizzini's young-adult novel of the same name. It is set to open officially on March 10th.
This show has had a fascinating production history and I'd be interested to hear if anything's changed from the Off-Broadway run last summer. Who
(Well, this has come back around again!) My point in bringing up Lee Pace to begin with was more that for a lot of people (including people like actors who are in the public eye), sexual orientation remains something that they spend their whole lives working to understand. And with society at large having a greater understanding of sexual/gender fluidity (while there's tons more work to be done, a lot has changed in even the last 20 years) I don't begrudge anyone who tr

Choir Boy does have music, but it'd still compete as a play, right?

Having seen the show twice off-Broadway, I'd say Jason Tam had the standout performance overall. I also thought Will Roland was great, but that's going to be a tough category to break into."
Jason Tam may be giving the better performance, but George Salazar is the one with the showstopper that everyone knows, so that might give him the edg

I agreed with the "don't cast 'straight' actors as gay characters" mantra until Lee Pace was essentially forced to out himself in response to criticisms of his casting as Joe in Angels in America. Would your (global your, not anyone here specifically) opinion change if tomorrow, Slater posted on Instagram that, despite being married to a woman, he's bisexual or pansexual?
