“The play is ultimately about a family …who know that family is their most precious treasure,”
-Denzel Washington and Viola Davis of FENCES (the film and Broadway Revival).

A beloved part of the American Century Cycle, FENCES takes place in 1950’s Pittsburg, where Troy Maxson confronts a lifetime of “fences”, while building a fence around his own belongings. Trying to do the best he can, Troy’s fence becomes a barrier to the very thing he cherishes most—family.
