A Theatre performance in freedom in coproduction with the Théâtre de la place of Martyrs and in collaboration with the FPGL (Federation of teachers of Greek and Latin) on the occasion of their 50th anniversary

Torn between his love for the Argonaute and anger to be betrayed, the sorceress MEDEA will choose to do something heinous to touch Jason in the depths of his being... Medea, an angry witch, a mother criminal, but also a courageous woman who stands alone against the power of men. Figure terrifying monster, she is also an exile, a stranger, whose symbolic force today still meet a strong resonance.

Medea, the most famous female infanticide mythology. Who is? A Princess of the blood royal, born at the edge of the known world. A magician, granddaughter of the Sun. A woman who did everything for the man she loves and who will betray the. Who is Medea? A hybrid being which is torn off to humanity by killing her own children? Too human heroine of a commonplace crime of passion? Or the strange figure in which the inhuman and the fact itself together and become blurred? This is the great strength of the Greek myths: philosophical issues to explain human phenomena. The hope of an eternal love, betrayal, the quest for power, the abandonment and vengeance are the recurring themes of this Greek tragedy.

Freedom Theatre is particularly proud to present at the opening of season this show which will bring together around the troupe a score of actors. A great text to (re) discover urgently!
