Amid the edelweiss, in the heart of the Tyrol, at the White Horse Inn, Josépha, the innkeeper, repeatedly snubs Léopold, the maître d'hôtel who only, however, has eyes for her.

She prefers Flores, the Parisian lawyer, over him.

One day, a businessman from Marseilles and his daughter Syvabelle arrive.

It is love at first sight for the latter and the lawyer.

This passing fancy is pleases Léopold. However, at the Inn, other guests pass through...

We see the arrival of a professor, his daughter and Célestin, who is none other than the son of the businessman's rival.

But, above all, a short time after, the emperor comes to watch a hunting party. Josépha is panic-stricken: she has just dismissed Léopold...
