A bitter intrigue overshadowed the Olympic idea and also the hoped-for victory in one of the most famous libretti by Pietro Metastasio. The supposedly Cretan Prince Licida asks his friend Megacle
from Athens, under his own name at the Olympics to take part. When Megacle learns that the winner of the games Gets the Princess Aristea wife, he finds himself in a moral dilemma. Aristea is his former lover. But out of loyalty to his friend Megacle compete at the games and WINS. This almost fatal ending Gewissenskonflikt between love and friendship can be resolved only after many misunderstandings happy. The active in Vienna and buried in St. Michael's Church Pietro Metastasio was the most famous librettist of his time. In 1733, he created the Olympic history of the moral value of victory and defeat for Antonio Caldara, and the turbulent libretto was immediately dubbed by many other composers.
