Ken Ludwig’s madcap comedy
MOON OVER BUFFALO
comes to Austin March 21 – April 14

If comedies are your favorite choice of theatre, then Moon Over Buffalo is sure to please. The City Theatre Company is excited to continue its 2013 spring theatre season with Ken Ludwig’s hilarious farce, March 21 – April 14 at The City Theatre.

"It's like living in the asylum on the guard's day off." – Ethel, Moon Over Buffalo

In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend me a Tenor, the cleverly written Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, two Hollywood fading stars. At the moment, they are playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in Buffalo with their dysfunctional family of actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his next movie. Unfortunately for them, everything that could go wrong does, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé, the wild antics of Charlotte’s deaf old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body and the hilarious uncertainty about which play they are actually performing. Add mistaken identities, show-within-a-show spoofs, half-dressed actors, near misses, slamming doors, some unrequited love and the comic possibilities arising from doing two plays at once, and you will see why Moon Over Buffalo will have you rolling in the aisles.

“Moon is by far Broadway’s funniest, most enjoyable play. Buy a ticket!” - Entertainment Weekly

Critics, audiences and theatre-goers fall in love with Ludwig’s comedies and Moon Over Buffalo was the show that brought a happy return of Carol Burnett back to Broadway. USA Today reported “Moon Over Buffalo packs more comic genius onto the stage than anything in recent memory,” and The New York Times called Ludwig “one of those rare contemporary playwrights who thinks in terms of old-fashioned knockabout farce, and that’s something to be cherished.” The New York Post says “Moon Over Buffalo is hilarious! Ludwig stuffs his play with comic invention, running gags and neat sense of absurdity. An evening of farcical delight. Go and enjoy!”

Veterans of the City Theatre stage headline the cast including Scot Friedman, Bobby DiPasquale, Gabriel Diehl and Samantha Brewer with newcomers Christina Little-Manley, Terah Zolman, Cindy Brown and Rick Smith. Andy Brown is making his CTC directing debut with Moon Over Buffalo. He previously starred in Of Mice and Men and has directed locally in Austin including productions at the Sam Bass Theatre.
