The Neo-Futurists Announce 30th Anniversary Holiday Shows

The Neo-Futurists jubilantly announce three unique alternatives to traditional holiday fare this season as they celebrate their 30th anniversary. Running for two weeks only November 30-December 9, Best of The Infinite Wrench 2018 showcases the ensemble's favorite plays this year from the company's flagship late-night show, The Infinite Wrench. A special 30th Birthday performance on Dec. 2, 2018, will mark three decades of The Neo-Futurists writing, performing and directing their signature brand of two-minute playwriting since Dec. 2, 1988. The equally vibrant 60 Songs in 60 Minutes offers the quickest and craziest musical celebration of the season for three performances only, December 13-15. Finally, in what has become a year-end tradition at The Neo-Futurist Theater, the company presents holiday favorite Burning Bluebeard co-produced with The Ruffians, December 26-31. Burning Bluebeard is among the more than 65 full-length mainstage productions that have premiered at The Neo-Futurist Theater in the past three decades.

Several options for celebrating New Year's Eve at The Neo-Futurist Theater are also available on December 31, including The Infinite Wrench's annual specialty New Year's Eve Party & Performance with drinks and snacks before the show. Guests can also upgrade to the VIP experience that includes tickets to Burning Bluebeard earlier in the evening. In between shows, VIP ticket holders will be treated to a full dinner, live performances and music, brews from Metropolitan Brewery and type-written poetry on demand from Poems While You Wait. The Infinite Wrench will conclude with an audience champagne or sparking apple juice toast at midnight for all in attendance.

Tickets for Best of The Infinite Wrench 2018 ($10-$20), The Infinite Wrench: New Year's Eve Party & Performance ($50), 60 Songs in 60 Minutes ($15) and Burning Bluebeard ($25-$35) are on sale now, as well as a limited number of tickets for the VIP New Year's Eve package ($75). All performances take place at The Neo-Futurist Theater, 5153 N. Ashland Avenue. To purchase tickets and for more information, visit www.neofuturists.org.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary this December, The Neo-Futurists first performed together as an ensemble on Dec. 2, 1988, introducing Chicago audiences to their signature late-night experience. Three decades later, the company is still performing 30 short plays in an hour to audiences 50 weekends per year with The Infinite Wrench. Comprised of original works written by Neo-Futurist performers, and totaling more than 10,400 short plays to date, this is the company's ongoing and ever-changing attempt to shift the conventions of live performance and speak to those unreached or unmoved by traditional theater. Along with its signature late-night experience, The Neo-Futurist Theater has produced more than 65 full-length mainstage productions and continues to foster new work with its Neo Lab commission program, originally funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. The company also serves more than 200 students annually, offering workshops in writing and performance year-round at their space in Andersonville and traveling to schools across the U.S., such as Georgetown University and the United States Naval Academy.
