The Fugard Bioscope Announces Dance And Drama In October Line-up There's a wonderful line up of dance and drama at The Fugard Bioscope in October. The season programme starts on Sunday 14th October with The Bolshoi Ballet's captivating production of COPPÉLIA. The Bolshoi's production of DON QUIXOTE will also be screened on 28 October, while on 21 October, theatre lovers can catch Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch in the National Theatre Live's HAMLET.

Screenings start at the earlier time of 10am and The Fugard Theatre coffee shop and bar is open from 9am serving the finest coffee and a delicious selection of snacks and drinks.

The Fugard Bioscope presents screenings of the world's best recorded live theatre, opera and ballet productions to be enjoyed from the comfort of a Fugard Theatre seat. With screenings on the Fugard's full size high definition cinema screen and a 7.1 dolby digital surround sound system, be transported to the heart of the action on stage.

Margarita Shrainer performs the role of Swanilda in The Bolshoi Ballet's COPPÉLIA along with Principal dancer Artem Ovcharenko as Franz and Alexei Loparevich as Coppélius. Restaged by Sergei Vikharev, this unique version of COPPÉLIA exhibits a fascinating reconstruction of the original choreography in an effervescent production.

Swanhilda notices her fiancee Franz is infatuated with the beautiful Coppélia who sits reading on her balcony each day. Nearly breaking up the two sweethearts, Coppelia is not what she seems and Swanhilda decides to teach Franz a lesson...

Directed by Lyndsey Turner (Posh, Chimerica), Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC's Sherlock, The Imitation Game, Frankenstein at the National Theatre) takes on the title role of Shakespeare's great tragedy in National Theatre Live's HAMLET. As a country arms itself for war, a family tears itself apart. Forced to avenge his father's death but paralysed by the task ahead, Hamlet rages against the impossibility of his predicament, threatening both his sanity and the security of the state. Principal dancers Ekaterina Krysanova and Semyon Chudin perform in the Bolshoi Ballet's DON QUIXOTE with panache and sparkling technique in the company's critically acclaimed staging of this exalting performance. Inspired by heroic stories of brave knights, Don Quixote of La Mancha and his faithful servant Sancho Panza set out on an adventure to meet his ideal woman, Dulcinea. Krysanova and Chudin lead the spectacular cast of toreadors, flamenco dancers, gypsies, and dryads in virtuosic dancing that is quintessential Bolshoi.
