Caldwell Theatre Company to Produce
The Secret Garden
in their Broadway Concert Series May 20-22

Following the success of their three previous Broadway Concert Presentations, Caldwell Theatre Company will now present the Tony Award Winning The Secret Garden with Book and Lyrics by Marsha Norman and Music by Lucy Simon. The production will star Caldwell's Broadway Concert luminaries, Wayne LeGette and Melissa Minyard, while adding newcomer Amy Miller Brennan.

In the pivotal role of Mary Lennox, the adage of "the apple not falling far..." is applicable, as it will be handled by Catherine Minyard, daughter of Melissa Minyard, an extraordinary talent in her own right. Colin Craven, the other child role in The Secret Garden, features the young talent, Dakota Ruiz, who most recently finished the national tour of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The Secret Garden will be the largest cast for a Caldwell Theatre Company Concert, with a cast of 17 in total.

"After producing three Sondheim shows to begin the series, it was important to continue with a musical that contained a similar sophistication in its music and lyrics," said Clive Cholerton, Artistic Director of Caldwell Theatre. "What is a tremendous added bonus with The Secret Garden is that its origins come from the classic children's story, giving it added accessibility."

The Secret Garden is the inspiring story of Mary Lennox who comes to live with her emotionally wounded Uncle Archibald Craven in Northern England, after losing her parents to a cholera epidemic in India. Upon her arrival, Mary encounters the mystical ghosts of the Craven estate and the equally mysterious and entertaining staff. Mary discovers her deceased Aunt Lilly's secret garden and in bringing it back to life, reawakens the life of her uncle and his invalid son. The music is both lyrically beautiful and haunting and the story is as equally entertaining as it is thought provoking
Cholerton will direct the production with Caryl Ginsburg Fantel providing the musical direction. Fantel most recently was co-Musical Director for the acclaimed Vices: A Love Story at Caldwell Theatre Company.

"Our last concert, Follies, more than doubled the sales of the first concert, Sunday in the Park with George, stated Cholerton. "I have no doubt that The Secret Garden will continue this trend and would urge our patrons to get their tickets immediately as we are limited to four shows in total."

The Caldwell Theatre Company is located at 7901 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33487. For the box office call 561-241-7432 or 1-877-245-7432. The Caldwell Theatre Company's upcoming production schedule can be found at www.caldwelltheatre.com.
