Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As With Your Favorite Broadway Stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!

In this week's edition, we caught up with Charl Brown, who is starring as 'Smokey Robinson' in Motown- currently playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?

Jelly's Last Jam starring the late great Gregory Hines

What is your most unique pre-show ritual?

Whether alone or in a group I try to send up a prayer of gratitude before every show.

What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?

For a few days while on tour in Europe with the musical Hair there was a major heat wave in Germany and the theater didn't have air conditioning (nor did the hotel or anywhere for that matter) but since we were out of Actor's Equity Jurisdiction our shady producers insisted that we do the shows anyway. I'll never forget those shows, it was literally like performing in the oven of Hell!

What is the one role you want to play before you die

I've always had this dream of being the first black Emcee in Cabaret! But I also would really like to play Duke Ellington in the Broadway revival of "Play On!" (Sorry, too many dream roles to name just one)

Who is your Broadway Crush?

She is not really my crush per se', but every night I fall more and more in love with my cast mate Miss Valisia LeKae' as Diana Ross! She is everything!
