St. Ann's Warehouse (Artistic Director, Susan Feldman; Executive Director, Andrew D. Hamingson) will present the American Premiere of Roadkill, an immersive off-site performance that hurtles audiences into the cruel world of human trafficking. Conceived and directed by Cora Bissett with text by Stef Smith, Roadkill is the only production in Edinburgh Fringe history to win all of the festival's major theater awards, in addition to receiving the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and Britain's 2012 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement at an Affiliate Theatre. The Evening Standard has called the work "a performance of shattering intensity."

Performances of Roadkill will take place at an undisclosed Brooklyn apartment June 4 - 30 (see above schedule). Audiences meet at St. Ann's Warehouse (29 Jay Street, Brooklyn). The performance begins on a bus with the actors, which will drive audiences to and from the apartment. Critics are welcome as of Thursday, June 6 for an official opening on Sunday, June 16. The running time is 90 minutes with no intermission, including travel time. All performances of Roadkill are sold out. There is a Cancellation Policy available online at http://www.stannswarehouse.org/Roadkill.

Roadkill begins when the audience of 25 boards the bus at St. Ann's Warehouse and accompanies teenager Mary and her "auntie" to Mary's new "home," a benign-looking Brooklyn apartment, where audiences come face to face with the cruel world of human trafficking.

Cora Bissett's critically acclaimed and explosive work comes to New York following sold-out runs in Edinburgh, Paris, London, and Glasgow. The performance is brave and affecting, making it impossible to turn away or remain complacent. Roadkill is based on a real-life encounter between Bissett and a young woman from Benin City, Nigeria, who had been trafficked to Scotland by an older woman.

In conjunction with the run of Roadkill, St. Ann's Warehouse and The British Council will host The Roadkill Forum, a series of free, open-to-the-public panel discussions designed to foster awareness and help eradicate demand. Panel participants feature experts from several leading advocacy organizations, including the NY Coalition Against Trafficking in Women, the Freedom Network, the Trafficking Victims Advocacy Project, and the global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking, among others. The discussions will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 6:30 pm; Tuesday, June 25 at 6:00pm; and Thursday, September 26 at 6:00pm.
