Slipstream Presents a Birthday Cabaret

Slipstream Theatre Initiative has become known for its gutsy adaptations of classics like Hamlet, A Doll's House, and Hedda Gabler. As season five approaches, the company will explore new avenues. Starting in January, Slipstream will present cabaret nights, Mondays at 8:00 PM. Performers can come with sheet music, ready to sing, or they can just come hang out.

Ideally a weekly event where industry professionals and novices can unwind and belt out favorite show tunes, Slipstream hopes to continue fostering the theatre community in Michigan; offering something similar to cabaret bars in cities like Chicago and New York.

Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director, Bailey Boudreau and Luna Alexander, respectively, will open the cabaret season on December 15th with The Birthday Cabaret. The evening will start at 8:00 pm, with a suggested donation at the door but no set ticket price. Boudreau and Alexander will foreshadow the season, celebrate Boudreau's birthday, and celebrate the journey Slipstream has taken in the past four years, singing songs from both musical theatre and mainstream musicians. Space is limited, so please rsvp to InsideTheSlipstream@gmail.com.

The next scheduled cabaret is January 18th, with host Diana Turner. A 90s girl band tribute will follow in February. People interested in hosting a night can submit a date and concept/theme to InsideTheSlipstream@gmail.com.

And just in time for the holidays, season tickets are now available at www.slipstreamti.com. The fifth season line up is Three Tall Women by Edward Albee (featuring Maggie Gilkes, Maggie Alger, and Jeannine Thompson), The Wolves by Sara DeLappe (featuring Kim Alley, Grace Jolliffe, Claire Jolliffe, Jennifer Jones Jolliffe, Tiaja Sabrie, and more), The Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare (featuring Jan Cartwright and Connie Cowper), Gross Indeceny: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde by Moises Kaufman (featuring Richard Payton in the titular role), The House of Yes by Wendy MacLeod (featuring Bailey Boudreau, Luna Alexander, Jackson Abohasira, Linda Rabin Hammell, and Mandy Logsdon), and The Frogs by Aristophanes, Stephen Sondheim, and Nathan Lane (featuring Dan Johnson as Dionysis). Slipstream Theatre Initiative now accepts Venmo for purchasing convenience so add them to your Venmo friends list!

Join the fun and help end the year on a high note, celebrating the industry with friends and peers, and be a part of this new tradition!
