Ross Kemp to Tour EXTREME TALES LIVE ON STAGE Across Australia

In a global first, documentary maker, author and actor Ross Kemp will reveal the truth about how the extreme world works live on stage, delivering remarkable insights into the 73 documentaries that he has made with his team across the world in the last 15 years.

Ross Kemp will tour Australia in February 2018 and you're invited to hear him talk frankly about some of the world's most dangerous people, the places he has visited and the humour that keeps him and his team going.

"I'm really excited about coming to Australia and speaking candidly about my experiences in some of the most extreme places on the earth," says Ross.

"It's very easy for people to assume there is good and evil in the world, but I have often found it isn't that simple. I'm looking forward to sharing my personal experiences, both humorous and heart breaking, with Australian audiences."

Ross Kemp has come face-to-face with some of the worst aspects of humanity.

His award-winning documentaries examine some of the most extreme situations that exist on our planet and analyse who we are and why we do the things we do.

Driven by a sense of social justice, Ross and his team have risked their lives to make these documentaries and have never shied away from asking the difficult questions.

Through his landmark TV series Extreme World, which has been broadcast on British TV since 2011 and is currently on ABC2 and BBC Knowledge in Australia, Ross is a true voice who explains how our world is mapped with conflict, ranging from war to trafficking, drugs, violence and suffering.

Ross Kemp will talk openly about how he became a documentary maker after meeting a member of the infamous American 'Bloods' who had been shot more than 20 times. This led him to make documentaries about gangs from El Salvador to East Timor and from Moscow to South Africa. From witnessing the tribal violence in Kenya to the Democratic Republic of Congo and reporting on the frontline in Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, Ross and his team have spent time in some of the most dangerous places on the planet.

Ross Kemp - BIOG

Ross Kemp is a BAFTA award-winning investigative documentary maker. As an actor, Ross was best known for his portrayal of Grant Mitchell in EastEnders (BBC). Ross is also the author of books linked to his documentaries. He established himself as a hard-hitting documentary maker with Ross Kemp on Gangs (Sky 1), which won a BAFTA in 2006 for Best Factual Series.

Ross began his acting career performing on stage in various productions for a couple of years, before starting his television career when he quickly became a household name. For 10 years he starred in EastEnders and won a number of awards, including Best Actor at the British Soap Awards in 1999 and 2006. He previously had smaller TV roles in Emmerdale, London's Burning and Birds of a Feather.

After leaving EastEnders Ross moved from the BBC to ITV to do other TV projects, including the popular show Ultimate Force, before gaining international recognition for his documentaries.

That career move was inspired by meeting with a member of the Bloods gang in California, which prompTed Ross to go to Sky 1 with the idea for Gangs, resulting in 27 programmes.

Ross then switched his focus to the conflict in Afghanistan, travelling to the country many times between 2007 and 2012. He spent time on the front line with 1 Royal Anglian, 5 Scots, 1 Royal Irish, US Marine Corps and 45 Commando. He and his team were nominated for a BAFTA and won a Broadcast Award for their work in Afghanistan; they were also short listed for a BAFTA for their special investigation into election violence in Kenya.

Ross's Production Company, Freshwater Films, has recently delivered the sixth series of Extreme World, which sees him travel to destinations including Libya, Italy, Madagascar, Philippines, The West Bank and the United States.

Ross and his team have also made other documentaries on the conflict in the Middle East, international piracy and the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest.

Ross is a Sunday Times Best Selling author and his titles include Ross Kemp on Gangs, Ross Kemp on Afghanistan, Ross Kemp on Pirates, Warriors & Raiders and his latest, A-Z of Hell: How Not to Travel the World.

Ross considers himself very lucky to have spent 30 years working in television but his great loves remain: family, friends, his dog Bruno, his home in the country and food and wine. Ross is a huge rugby fan and is a patron of the military charity 'Help for Heroes'.

On a personal note, Ross is looking forward to spending time with his wife's family in Australia.

He can currently be seen in the new series of Ross Kemp: Extreme World on ABC2, Mondays at 9.30pm, and in Series 5 of Ross Kemp: Extreme World on BBC Knowledge from Tuesday 19 September, 9.30pm.
