Point Park University Presents Two Children's Classics Before the Curtains Close at the Oakland Location

Point Park University's Playhouse Jr., the second longest running children's theatre company in the country, will be wrapping up the 2017-2018 season and bringing down the curtain at the historic Pittsburgh Playhouse with two unique shows for children of all ages.

Both shows will be running from May 5-20 at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave. Performance dates include Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.Adult tickets are $10 and student tickets are $5. In celebration of Mothers' Day, all mothers' tickets are complimentary for the weekend of May 12. Not all that glitters is glitter. For young Nancy, 'fancy' may not even be a strong enough word. Bedecked in boas, sparkles and glam, she opines that her family is too plain, and gives them a master class in posh-ness. In the course of more than 70 books, Nancy always gets caught up in the glitter, but ends up learning what's really important. A gem for all children!

"Working with the team on Fancy Nancy has been a wonderful process. The May shows at Point Park are so unique. They're so collaborative and light-hearted!" said director, Kelly Trumbull. "Making theatre for kids is such a rewarding experience and the students at Point Park have been working hard to create a funny, inspiring, adorable musical that will appeal to children and adults alike."

Fancy Nancy The Musical features musical direction by Camille Rolla, choreography by Amanda Aiello, scenic design by Nicole Perrone, costume design by Cathleen Crocker-Perry, lighting design Antonio Colaruotolo, and sound design by Rachel Trindade.

Kelly Trumbull is an actor, educator, director, and Pittsburgh native. Local acting credits include productions with Pittsburgh CLO (The 39 Steps, Boeing Boeing), Quantum Theatre (The Master Builder), The REP (By the Way, Meet Vera Stark), Bricolage (Strata, In the Raw: Revolution), No Name Players (Brewed, The Truth About Santa), City Theater Company (Momentum Festival, Young Playwright's Festival), and Pittsburgh Public Theater's Young Company (The Crucible). She currently serves on the faculties at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University's School of Music, and Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts. Previous directing experience includes Rent at the Community College of Allegheny County, various one act plays as part of the Young Playwrights Festival Honorable Mention Reading Series at City Theatre, and The Adventures of Nate the Great with Point Park University's Playhouse Jr. Additionally, Kelly has numerous commercial, TV, and film credits. She holds a BFA in acting from Syracuse University and a master's degree in educational theater in colleges and communities from New York University.

Rob from the rich, give to the poor. As legend has it, Robin Hood was a master archer. Living in the forest, he and his band of "Merry Men and Women" are able to save the good guys with a little help from the bad guys. This old English folklore comes to life for children in a beautiful, contemporary way in the Playhouse Jr. production ofRobin Hood.

Robin Hood director, Samuel G.C. Muñoz is an actor, fight choreographer, director, producer, stuntman, award winning filmmaker, and an educator. His work has been seen in Kenneth Branagh's THOR, Clint Eastwood's Invictus, Off Broadway, Tony Award winning Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Jeff Citation award winning Defiant Theatre, New York International Fringe Festival, Second City Skybox, Improv Olympic, Virginia Shakespeare Festival, Chicago's Storefront Theatre, About Face Theatre, Circle Theater, Florida Atlantic Repertory, Queens World Film Festival, Fargo Film Festival, North Hollywood Cinefest, Breckenridge Film Festival, L.A.
