Pinch 'N' Ouch Opens 10-Year Anniversary Season With HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH

Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre opens its 10-year anniversary season with the Tony Award-winning rock musical, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, written by John Cameron Mitchell and music by Stephen Trask. Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre's Producing Artistic Director, Grant McGowen will direct Atlanta native Chad Darnell in the role of "Hedwig," an East German genderqueer "internationally ignored song stylist." McGowen most recently directed THIS IS OUR YOUTH, FOOL FOR LOVE and WHO'S AFRAID OF Virginia Woolf at Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre. "This show is a beast of a show and I'm so excited to bring her to back to Atlanta," said Darnell who previously played the role at the Bay Street Theatre in Savannah, GA in January 2018.

The show will open January 10, 2019 with a possible extension after February 2, 2019. HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH premiered in 1998 as an off-Broadway play, winning the Obie and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical. The Broadway revival in 2014 won Tonys for Best Revival, Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Lena Hall) and Best Actor in a Musical (Neil Patrick Harris).

Singer/songwriter Courtney Lakin (SLEEPY HOLLOW, CODE BLACK) makes her Atlanta theatre debut as "Yitzak," Hedwig's long-suffering husband. Frontman of the jazz/funk band "Dapper Slap" Andy Fleming (GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, THE ALIENS) will also make an appearance as "Hedwig" in the latter half of the run, with Jordan Demers (GIRLS LIFE) playing "Yitzak." Hedwig's bandmates include Steve Lock Franks on keys, John Carter on bass, Anthony Triceri on guitar, TJ Hassan on guitar, and Peter Strickland on drums.

Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre is A Contemporary Theatre & Film Production Company dedicated to bringing exciting new works to Atlanta. Named after a phrase coined by the legendary acting teacher Sanford Meisner, "pinch and ouch" offers an enthusiasm for provocative storytelling that is grounded in realistic performances. Since the company's arrival to Atlanta in 2010, PNO has already carved out a niche for edgy fare and has set a high standard in delivering impassioned, sharp productions from some of the most important writers working today. PNO also offers a variety of acting classes, and is involved in the development of new plays and writers.
