Overture Series Continue in 2018 with Wide Spectrum of Performances

Overture's series continue in 2018, including Kids in the Rotunda, American Girl's Fund for Children Family Series, Cabaret, OnStage and MadCity Sessions, and feature local, regional, national and international touring artists.

Kids in the Rotunda

From award-winning folk singers and zany jugglers, to friendly furry animals and traditional Indian dancing, our popular Kids in the Rotunda series for families is sure to engage, educate and entertain your whole family. Enjoy a diverse lineup of local, regional and national performers selected exclusively for children ages nine and younger and their families. The shows are offered at no cost to families on the Rotunda Stage most Saturdays October through April at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (the 1 p.m. performance is American Sign Language interpreted).

Criss Angel RAW - The Mindfreak Unplugged | Sun., Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. | Overture Hall

From A&E Network's Criss Angel MINDFREAK LIVE!, Angel brings sleight of hand street magic, mentalism and iconic illusions to life - all performed in an intimate, raw setting.

OnStage Student Field Trip Series

From classic books brought to life through puppets to an internationally-renowned Latin band and an interactive dance quartet to bi-lingual hip-hop performance and esteemed lecturers, this series serves schools and homeschools to connect to content across the curriculum while offering a diverse range of performing art forms and various cultural perspectives. To deepen the student experience, we provide Resource Guides for each show filled with curricular-focused lesson ideas. Tickets (and in some cases transportation) are subsidized to be very low-cost.

Presented by Mad River Theater Works, this new play, with original songs and music, explores the valiant and courageous personalities behind one of the most critical chapters in the history of the Civil Rights movement.

Cabaret Series

This unique musical dining experience begins with hors d'oeuvres in the Capitol Theater Lobby, followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by our exclusive in-house caterer, Catering a Fresco, and served on the historic Capitol Theater stage, which is transformed into an elegant nightclub for the evening's performance.

Best known as the voice of Oogie Boogie in Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas and Old Deuteronomy in the original Broadway production and filmed stage production of Cats, Page will tap into Broadway favorites, the blues and more.

MadCity Sessions

Series of free concerts featuring local and regional bands in the historic Capitol Theater with two bands per concert between 7:30-10 p.m. Admission is free, dancing is encouraged, and drinks are available for purchase. (Sponsored by WISC-TV.)

Kinfolk and The Big Payback | Thurs., Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. | FREE

Kinfolk, an American R&B band based out of Madison plays an array of music from traditional jazz, to mainstream R&B and rock-based music, to funk, Latin, and Jamaican-based rhythms, as well as a variety of soulful original tunes

The Big Payback is an award-winning jazz-rock band that features the soulful vocals of Leah Isabel Tirado with a smoking horn section and was nominated as one of Madison's favorite "Dance Bands" by Isthmus readers in 2016.

Overture Presents - National Geographic Live! Series

National Geographic Live is the live events division of National Geographic. With a broad roster of talent including renowned photographers, scientists, authors, filmmakers and adventurers, National Geographic Live's critically acclaimed programs have connected with audiences worldwide for over a century. Speakers share behind-the-scenes stories from the front lines of exploration onstage alongside stunning imagery and gripping footage. Point of No Return with Hilaree O'Neill I Tues., Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. | Capitol Theater

Mountaineer Hilaree O'Neill, named by Outside magazine as one of the most adventurous women in the world of sports, is celebrated for being the first woman to have climbed both Everest and its neighbor, Lhotse, in a single 24-hour period.
