New Romantic Comedy, THE CLAPPER, Opens At River St Theatre

The best time of year to premiere a new romantic comedy movie? Valentine's Week, of course. Ed Helms (Daily Show, The Office, The Hangover) and Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!, Mean Girls, Les Misérables) star in The Clapper which opens this Friday (2/16) at The Park Theatre's River Street Theatre (RST) in Jaffrey.

Eddie (Helms) and his friend Chris (Tracy Morgan), clap for a living as audience members on infomercials. They live a simple and content life, scraping by as the glitzy circus of Hollywood show-biz swirls around them. Eddie's only real excitement is his romance with local gas station attendant, Judy (Seyfried), a beacon of light in a sea of monotony. But soon, Eddie's life is turned upside down when talk-show host Jayme Stillerman (Russell Peters)takes an interest in Eddie, launching a citywide media craze to uncover his true identity. The newfound fame costs him his job and Judy, who disappears without a trace. With no other choice, Eddie embarks into the world of late-night TV on a quest to hunt down his lost love.

The Clapper is written and directed by Dito Montiel (A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, Boulevard, Empire State).

The Clapper plays at the RST Friday through Sunday, February 16 - 18, all at 7pm. There is also a matinee on Saturday, February, 17 at 2pm.

Tickets for The Clapper (Rated R) are $8.00. Seniors, military, students, teachers are $7.00. The River Street Theatre is located in downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The Park Theatre first opened in Jaffrey in 1922 and was the center of community life as a movie and vaudeville house for 54 years until it closed in 1976. Purchased by The Park Theatre, Inc. in 2006, it will be rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 485, presenting movies, live theatre, including children's productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community. The new Park Theatre is scheduled to open in 2018.

The Park Theatre currently operates the River Street Theatre (RST), a small live entertainment and cinema venue, located adjacent to the construction site as an interim theatre until the new Park Theatre opens. Opened in January of 2017, the RST holds the title of "smallest theatre in New England."
