My Perfect Pet is the story of Cailin, a young girl who is determined to receive a puppy for her 10th birthday. Will she get her prized bundle of joy? She must first prove to her skeptical parents that she is worthy enough to receive such a very special gift. This bright and bouncy, light and giggly, tuneful show for the young and young at heart debuts at the Playroom Theater, 151 West 46 Street, New York, NY on October 14.

My Perfect Pet plays at noon and 2 pm for six successive Saturdays, on October 14, 21 and 28 and on November 4, 11 and 18. Tickets are $20, available at Brown Paper Tickets (click here).

With music and lyrics by Jeff Eisenberg and book by Bruce J. Robinson, My Perfect Pet deals with important issues concerning commitment, choices, and responsibility, all under the umbrella of lighthearted musical fun. Cailin, the story's protagonist, will accept nothing less than a puppy for big birthday, number 10 - but is she responsible and mature enough to take care of a puppy? Her parents aren't so sure. Cailin will have to prove she's got what it takes to receive her dream birthday gift.

My Perfect Pet was originally presented as a staged reading at NYMF (The New York Musical Theatre Festival) under the direction of Marlo Hunter in the summer of 2012. The terrific response it received inevitably led to this first mounting of the musical in full. Adrienne Asterita reprises the role of Donna/Ms. Sternwipe in this new production of My Perfect Pet. Adrienne has also performed in Regional and Summer Stock Theatre, as well as in many New York City venues. Also starring in My Perfect Pet are Taylor Rhoades (Cailin), a junior at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Clint Carter (Ethan/Mr. O) with many Regional and Off Broadway and New York credits, McKennah Rabel (Amy) a junior at NYU's TIsch School of the Arts, and Xavier McKnight (Josh) a recent graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

Jeff Eisenberg (Producer, Music and Lyrics) is a four-time ASCAP Award-winning songwriter. He is the creator and founding member of the children's musical singing group, Junior Jam. His four Junior Jam recordings have won NAPPA (National Association of Parenting Publications Awards), Children's Music Web and Kids Music Awards. His fourth album, Wake Up, was a finalist in Nickelodeon' s Parents Picks Awards, and his song from the album, Happy Pants, was a finalist in 2011's The International Songwriting Competition. Bruce J. Robinson (Book) writes for theatre and television. His plays include Byrd's Boy, nominated as "Best Play" - Detroit Free Press's Award for Theatre Excellence for its run at Detroit Rep; Another Vermeer, winner of a Berrilla Kerr Award; and 30,000 Meals. Bruce was also honored by the Kennedy Center Festival for "Outstanding Service in Playwriting."

My Perfect Pet is directed by Rachel Black Spaulding whose credits include the award-winning The Widow of Tom's Hill at 59E59 Theatres, and productions at Luna Stage, The Bickford Theatre, The Theater Project, Strange Dog Theatre, Grove Street Theater, and more. Rachel was also the recipient of a SDC Observership under the mentorship of multi-award winning director Michael Grandage (UK) for Hughie on Broadway. Music Director for My Perfect Pet is Harrison M. Beck, a New York-based music director, composer, performer, and stage director. Harrison has worked on projects on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regionally. He has also written an original musical and has orchestrated Ben Model's new accompaniment to Buster Keaton's The Goat.
